This security-focused messaging app allows you to register a unique username so that people can message or add you to groups without necessarily knowing your phone number. Telegram also includes useful security options in this menu, which differ in name slightly on Android and iPhone. Use Passcode Lock to keep people from reading your chats. And you can specify a self-destruct period for all media if you like. What makes it so handy is the ability to let you set any short audio clip from a chat as a notification sound.
