📌Approved by: Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by PM Shri Narendra Modi.
📌Sugar Season: 2025–26 (October 2025 – September 2026).
📌New FRP: ₹355 per quintal at 10.25% recovery rate.
📌Premium: ₹3.46/qtl for every 0.1% increase in recovery above 10.25%.
📌Deduction: ₹3.46/qtl reduction for every 0.1% decrease below 10.25%.
📌Minimum assured FRP (no deduction): For mills with recovery below 9.5%, farmers will still get ₹329.05/qtl.
📌Cost of production (A2 + FL): ₹173/qtl.
📌Profit margin: FRP is 105.2% higher than cost of production.
📌Increase over last season (2024–25): 4.41% higher.

📌Location: Found in the Brahmaputra River at Maijan, Dibrugarh, Assam.
📌Family: Belongs to the Cyprinidae family, which includes carps and minnows

👉Incomplete lateral line (a sensory organ used to detect movement in water).
👉A prominent black spot near the tail that stretches both upward and downward.
👉Absence of barbels (whisker-like structures) and humeral marks (dark shoulder spots).
👉Specific scale patterns: 10 scales around the tail, 4 rows between dorsal fin and lateral line, and 4 rows between lateral line and pelvic fin.

👉The discovery highlights the rich biodiversity of the Brahmaputra basin, which is home to many endemic freshwater species.
👉Scientists emphasize the need for conservation efforts to protect these lesser-known species from threats like habitat destruction and pollution.
