Urban design, or the art of building cities, is the method by which man creates a built environment that fulfils his aspirations and represents his values.
One value which is increasingly becoming important is the care for the natural and built environment for the benefit of future generations.
Urban design therefore, can be described as a peoples use of an accumulated technological knowledge to control and adapt the environment in sustainable ways for social, economic, political and spiritual requirements.
Its the method learned and used by people to solve the total programme of requirements for city building.

Serena Williams Building at Nike World Headquarters / Skylab Architecture
OFFICE BUILDINGS, SUSTAINABILITY
BEAVERTON, UNITED STATES
Architects: Skylab Architecture
Area : 1000000 ft²
The Serena Williams Building—a workplace for 2,750 occupants at more than 1 million square feet—is the largest structure at Nike World Headquarters. We led the design of all aspects of this complex building and program, including core and shell, interior design and furniture selection, and branding integration. Beyond its sheer scale, the project presented three principal challenges:
How to create a new prototype for a design-focused workspace that fosters chemistry and collaboration on an enormous scale.
How to leverage regenerative principles to design for both the site and the building occupants through a partnership with nature.
How to capture the ethos of sport, Nike’s heritage, and the spirit of Serena Williams, the ultimate warrior-muse and the building’s namesake.
