Everspace VR is a Hidden Gem Roguelike – Under $1 on Steam!
Today I jumped back into Everspace 1 in VR, and honestly, I was blown away by how fun this roguelike still is. For under a dollar on Steam (until June 10th), it’s probably one of the best deals you can grab if you enjoy space combat.

With AI psychosis on the rise we need to check in with our families.
I see more and more posts from Redditors with "scientific papers" and "my new book" that definitely wasn't (was) made with majority AI. As well as the "my husband went crazy because AI agreed with him too much" or "AI said it was a good idea to stop my meds".
These cases alongside the ever increasing use of AI and its development worldwide have me worried for anyone using it to make life decisions or lean on for mental support - it is not there yet and even if it was it is not trustworthy.
Im not going to focus on the corporate worldwide side of things, I think we all need to be humans and connect with our family about AI and protecting them from potential harm from sycophancy or advanced scams.
For instance I have already told my family that if I ever ask for money (which I should never need to do) I need to be in front of them. I've shown how voices and faces can be replicated and kept them updated on the new video models coming out that are getting harder to identify.
I also repeatedly mention you can't believe what you see now.
So what are some ways you have reached out friends and family?
Does your grandma know that your face and voice could be replicated on their phone?

Everything about this game just feels right, and it's even free somehow. It's fun just hanging out midair and watching the rain run down the windows, but the flight simulator is also excellent. Those turbo barrel rolls just hit different through the middle…

Prescription lenses so good I had to get rid of them.
Hi, for context, I had glasses since third grade with a number of around -3 on my eyes. I played vr since 2017 and decided I had fucking enough with it ruining my glasses or having to put contacts each time to play.
Around two months ago I bought the hons vr add on (NOT AN AD! This will probably be the same regardless of brand). I wanted to play better since I just couldn’t understand anymore what’s going on with large spaces.
I put them on for the first time and realised what I fucking missed all the time. The ease of playing was on another level, my mind clicked and I knew I had to do an eye surgery.
I am writing this a week after the surgery since I wanted to say, if you need glasses and play a lot of vr, BUY THE PRESCRIPTIONS THAT ARE SPECIFIC FOR YOUR HEADSET. It is mind blowing how good it is.

Rebuilding American democracy: 20-minute talk proposes abolishing the Senate, reforming the House, and restructuring the Supreme Court
I came across this presentation from a July 4th book launch event and thought it was one of the more ambitious and structured democracy reform proposals I’ve seen lately. The speaker outlines six major institutional changes he believes are necessary to make U.S. democracy sustainable in the 21st century (and beyond).
Basically, he wants to:
Abolish the Senate and vest all legislative power in an expanded House (695 members), and redraw all congressional districts into multi-member districts and elect them using proportional ranked choice voting.
He’d also Abolish the Electoral College in favor of a national popular vote (obvious yes, for me).
Allow the House to impeach the President with a 60% majority, eliminating the Senate trial. Not sure about this one…but parliamentary systems seem to do ok with no-confidence votes.
Expand the Supreme Court to 21 Justices, each serving a 21-year term, with 4 appointments per presidential term. Creative, and yeah I can see how it “turns down the temperature,” as he says.
The video is here if you’re interested: https://youtu.be/cFca2mYb1wc
Regardless of whether you agree with all of it, I thought it was a really concise and provocative vision of what a redesigned democratic system could look like. Curious what others here think.
