Whatever propositions any man shall entertain in his manner of discoursing of these mysteries, let him be sure to take into his notice and memory those great appellatives with which the purest ages of the church, the most ancient liturgies, and the most eminent saints of God use to adorn and invest this great mysteriousness. In the Greek liturgy attributed to S. James, the sacramental symbols are called 'sanctified,' 'honourable,' 'precious,' 'celestial,' 'unspeakable,' 'incorruptible,' 'glorious,' 'fearful,' 'formidable,' 'divine ;' in the use of which epithets, as we have the warranty and consent of all the Greek churches since they ever had a liturgy, so we are taught only to have reverend usages and religious apprehensions of the divine mysteries; but if by any appellative we can learn a duty, it is one of the best ways of entering into the secret. - Jeremy Taylor

"So Yeshua, what about those Antisemites online that keep saying you hate the Jews?"
"Hate Jews? Oy vey! I am a Jew but lemme set this straight, when I told the Sanhedrin and Pharisees the truth, did you know what they and many Jews did to me? You...."
"Quick, Schlomo! Cut the recording now!"

The whole life of Christ was a continual Passion; others die martyrs but Christ was born a martyr. He found a Golgotha, where he was crucified, even in Bethlehem, where he was born; for to his tenderness then the straws were almost as sharp as the thorns after, and the manger as uneasy at first as the cross at last. His birth and his death were but one continual act, and his Christmas day and his Good Friday are but the evening and morning of the same day. And as even his birth is his death, so every action and passage that manifests Christ to us is his birth, for Epiphany is manifestation. Every manifestation of Christ to the world, to the Church, to a particular soul is an Epiphany, a Christmas day. - John Donne

Before I was humbled I went astray: but now have I kept Thy word.
O my God and Word, my Joy, how shall I endure Thy three days in the tomb? Now is my heart torn in pieces by a mother's grief. Who will give me water and springs of tears, that I may weep for my sweet Jesus?
Thou art good, O Lord: in Thy goodness teach me Thy statutes.
