Why wasn't anyone (including Eren) surprised that Eren had Grisha's key?

So, this is the only thing about the series I stil don't understand completely after two rewatches. When Eren wakes up after being given both the key to the basement and the attack titan (none of which he remembers yet), he looks down and notices the key around his neck, but other than looking surprised for a couple of seconds it's never brought up, either by him or any other character. He didn't have it before that night. He knows it was his father's key and Mikasa knows too (she was right there when Grisha promised Eren he'd show him the basement upon his return and showed the key). Why don't any of them ever say “hey, how did this get here?”
