To those who read the manga, 14 years ago...

I first watched the anime, and only now I started reading the manga.

I knew that Eren was a titan shifter before I started watching the anime. That's a plot point that's kinda hard to avoid, also because it happens right at the beginning. I believe it's the same for most those who started watching the anime in the west, when the series was already growing in popularity.

But to those who read the manga when it first came out, or who read it avoiding any spoilers, how did Eren's "death" strike you? Were you expecting to see him again in the future, or were you succesfully convinced that he was dead? If that's the case, how did you think the story would develop from that moment onward?

What about when Eren's titan first showed up, while it wasn't clear what was going on with it exactly? And what were your thoughts when you found out that Eren was that weird titan?
