AOT is what Itachi contemplated at 5 yrs old
I've just watched the entire series of AOT for the first time. Completely allowed it to be my every waking moment this weekend.
I'm amazed. Completely shaken. A masterpiece in my eyes. For me, I'd sum it up in 1 word: sublime.
I literally wept at the end.
Prior to this, Naruto sat at my #1 manga/anime story. One of my favorite scenes in that one was Itachi contemplating existence when he was 5. What AOT evoked is what I would say happened in Itachi's processing of the world he lived in, even to the point of concluding the same thing as Eren.
1. The unfairness and injustice in the way society operates
2. The wasteful loss of life
3. The hopelessness of living and thus wanting to die
4. The resurgence of the sacredness of whatever you choose to hold dear and protect
5. The willingness and courage to become the evil in hopes that you can protect peace and allow life to continue

About kenny's future
What do you guys think would happen if Kenny survived rod's explosion in season 3? I have two theories
1. After levi takes him in and he's treated medically, Erwin would have him become historia's bodyguard. Since Erwin would understand how Kenny served the reiss family. And in s4 he'd side whichever side historia leans in between yeagarists and alliance.
2. No one finds him after rod's death. I think he'd just go back to underground and return to being "Kenny the ripper"

Why is Armin often infantilized or feminized in non-canon and promotional material?

hot take: the ending of AoT is good
I've heard so many watchers of the show say "it's a really great show, I just didn't like the ending".
I get why many people say that. We become quite invested in Eren - he is the main character after all. And to see him become the main villain feels horrible and unsatisfying on some level.
And yet, I think the end is great:
\- the show takes itself very seriously and commits to exploring different answers to dealing with war and suffering (Eren: burn it all down / Zeke: surrender / Arwen: live and fight for what good there is)
\- the ending is subversive. One does not easily see it coming and that in itself is an achievement these days. And yet, when it happens, it checks out. Eren is in fact acting in line with the character that was established for him. It is somewhat surprising how calculated he is about it (he is usually impulsive). But it works.
\- it is very emotional. The show manages to communicate the motivations of all characters and it stings. We feel Mikasa's pain as she finally takes out Eren even though she loved him deeply all along. We get why he did what he did and we share the joy of people like Armin who can find something beautiful in all the tragedy.
It works, people. It's not what we would have wanted, but who needs another predictable good-guys-win bad-guys-lose saga.
Maybe I am preachig to the choir here, and I'm sure this has been brought up many times but I'd thought I'd share my thoughts either way.
