Temporary QR codes

Beta version of Telegram for Android got a new option to set a temporary QR code for users with no public username in their profile.

These temporary QR codes will be valid for 5 minutes and will be re-generated by Telegram after expiry.

General topic

In Beta version of Telegram for Android, you can see “General” topic appeared in the forums. In addition to communicate, you can find messages sent before the transformation of the group into a forum.

Optionally, this topic can be renamed and even hidden among other topics (you can return “General” by swiping down).

Improved navigation between chats and forums

The Beta version of Telegram for iOS has redesigned the forums.

All topics are now displayed in a panel that slides out from the right edge. When a forum is expanded, a list of all chats appears on the left side of the screen, and you can quickly navigate between them.

Global Auto-deletion of Messages Option

In Beta version of Telegram for iOS, you can now enable “Auto-delete messages” in Settings.

After enabling, an auto delete timer will be enabled in all new personal chats, newly created groups and channels. It will not work in previously created or started chats.

There is to set exceptions for administered groups and channels as well as for private chats.

Anti-spam system from 200 participants

The Beta version of Telegram for iOS has the option to enable an aggressive anti-spam system.

From the information we have, Telegram plans to improve the anti-spam system in groups. Admins will be able to enable the new "Aggressive anti-spam".

To improve the algorithms, admins can report false deletions in "Recent actions".

Aggressive Anti-spam is available only for chats with at least 200 participants.

Messages on behalf of channels in Telegram X

In Beta-version of Telegram X for Android, you can write in chats and comments on behalf of the channel.

Earlier, Telegram only allowed users with a Premium subscription to write on behalf of the channel.

The official Telegram for Android client introduced this feature in 2021.

Hide Group Members

In Beta version of Telegram for Android and iOS, you can hide the list of members in group chats.

When the setting is enabled, only non-anonymous group administrators are visible in the members list. Administrators themselves still see a list of all chat members.

The option is available for supergroups from 100 members. The toggle is located in the "Members" section.

The list of members is hidden not only for users of Beta version, but also for those who use the latest stable versions of applications (Android, iOS, macOS, Unigram — 9.2, Desktop — 4.4).
