Status Timer

In Beta version of Telegram for macOS, you can now choose an expiration time for the profile status.

There are several choices: an hour, 2 hours, 8 hours, 1 day or 2 days. To set it, right click the selected emoji in the list and choose your preferred expiration time.

After the specified time has been elapsed, the status will automatically be reset.

Changes in the Telegram player for YouTube videos

In the beta version of Telegram for Android, the design of the video player has been updated when watching YouTube videos inside the messenger.

In the new design, the progress bar has moved to the bottom of the video preview screen. Moreover, now in the player you can double-click to rewind the video forward and backward by 10 seconds.

New "not available" popup

In the Beta version of Telegram for Android, there's a new design for the popup notifying users about the unavailability of a chat, whether it's blocked due to ToS or Copyright infringement, due to the user being banned in it, or due to the chat being private.

The Beta version of Telegram for Android lets you create "topics" inside group chats.

Topics are several small subchats within a group, in each of ones chat members will be able to join all sorts of discussions.

What is already known about topics:
• Topics will only be available to groups with more than 200 members.
• Topics cannot be activated in channel-linked groups yet.
• Most likely, only the owner of the group will be able to activate topics in the group.
• Any user emoji can be set as an avatar for a topic (Premium subscription required).
• If desired, topics can be closed, reopened, or deleted.
• You can set your own notification conditions for individual topics within a group.
• Users will be able to view any threads after joining a group.
• There is a switch for topics management in the chat members permissions settings.

Topics are currently in the testing phase, so there may be quite a few more feature-related changes by the time of release.

At the moment, topics are partially functional only on the Telegram test server.

Setting multiple usernames

In strings of new Beta version of Telegram for Android, it can be seen that some users can have several public addresses set up in their profiles at once.

One of the links selected by the user will be the main one, while all the others will be secondary links, which are also displayed in the user's profile. The order of usernames can be set in the settings. In addition, there is an option to hide those usernames.

Right now, this option is not working and it is unknown if all users will be able to set up multiple public links in their profile (or even in groups and channels).

Sources think that this change is related to the ability of buying usernames for TON cryptocurrency on the forthcoming username auction, and you won't be able to add more usernames in the Telegram app.
