Dear Flock,
Prior to the arrival of Dan Stephens, we delivered the bridge, lending platform, oracle analytics demo and our MVP analytics tool which was used by MoonTools.
We promoted Dan from the position of a team member to the role of CEO after he initially applied to join and showed some good organisational and leadership skills in his previous role in Nov 2020. Prior to that, Kirby was the spokesperson for the project - with him we saw an all time high in the token price in addition to some notable partnerships including API3.
We applied for Binance incubation to help fund the project. During this application was when Dan was made CEO and handed full autonomy and control to ensure the project succeeded, with the power to structure the budget, bring in new team members and restructure the team as he saw fit. After Dan was given this power, he cut wages of key team members by more than half due to “market conditions” but we thought nothing of it until after the Binance application.
After the successful application to Binance incubation labs, Dan signed a contract with Binance that gave him sole rights to the (multiple) six figures of USD under an LLC he set up in Miami in his name only. Binance’s obvious intention was for this money to pay for the continuous development of the project. However, Dan had other ideas. In this contract, he legally discharged the founders and other team members from entitlement to the funds, and has since used the funds to pay himself a grossly exorbitant salary, including travel allowance, and other expenses of which five figures per month (USD) were budgeted for “marketing” to a company (named Th3sis) that we had never heard of previously, a company, which to this date, has not provided any tangible marketing activities. Instead, the opposite occurred, Dan even began marketing Th3sis to the community, for example, during Bird AMAs in external groups.
We have been working to keep the infrastructure working with no access to any of the funds invested by Binance. Many team members have since left the project under Dan’s leadership, unhappy with the lack of communication, lack of pay and the direction that the project was going in.
The founders then engaged a legal team to find out the root of the matter with regards to the legal documents signed with Binance. They requested a detailed breakdown of the funds from Dan a couple of months ago, to their shock most of the funds have been used up with little to nothing left. When questioned, Dan's exact words were “I have been told I can keep the money, it is my money”.
Dan has now informed us of his intention to leave the project. The founders built this project from the ground up, deploying the first line of code from their bedrooms and built most of what you see today, but their biggest mistake was trusting Dan to be the CEO. Especially when he had some questionable reviews from his old workplace “PawTocol”.
For those of you asking for product updates and launch dates, we are now able to spend more time building for the community as we’ve done before, with love for this beautiful project that is appreciated by the crypto community at large.
The founders and the team members that remain still have passion for the project, before this hostile takeover occurred. We will build this project back to the heights it was at before with the right team and we intend to bring the right people back onboard. The founders of Bird have been busy behind the scenes and working on many different things, which we are excited to soon be able to share with you. We would like to frame this announcement in a positive light as best we can, now that everything can be out in the open and transparent once more. In the upcoming weeks you will be reading much more positive news about the direction of the project.

We have only banned team members that impersonate the bird project or are directing people to a new project. Which has been a rule all along since the start

The team has been working hard to refocus and chart a new course for the future. We have gone back to the drawing board and are building in a leaner, more agile fashion, with the goal of producing viable market products soon.
One of the key areas we are focusing on is on-chain web3 identity and security. We believe that predictive analytics can play a crucial role in this area, and we are working on developing innovative solutions to address these challenges.
