But a Dominican priest was able to lead him back to the faith. He got married but they decided to live chastely. He propagated the devotion to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii. He founded the Dominican Sisters of Pompeii. He died in peace holding a crucifix and a rosary.

He was a German priest and the founder of the Carthusian Order. One of his students became the pope - Pope Bl. Urban II. He was offered to become a bishop, but he refused. He had an inspiration to establish a community of hermits in the mountains of Chartreuse. This became the Carthusians, an eremitic order which values solitary contemplation. They profess a perpetual vow of abstinence from meat and complete silence.
