We "hack" the advertising systems of Facebook and TikTok. Advertising is getting better, the cost of registration has lowered and ... today we have just exceeded 10,000 confirmed registrations on ccFound! New campaigns in social media are also launched, we are developing a system of cooperation with influencers. In the coming week, we will be appearing on the β€œBNB” channel and on Wiki Bre (Polish influencers). We negotiate with others and move quickly forward.

3Q 2022 report

Dear Investors!
A lot has happened over the past months. We have made moves that I hope you will appreciate. Let's get started!

CHANGES

I made the decision to lay off the marketing department at ccFound. We had colorful personalities, but we had to part ways for the sake of the project. Bridges were not burned, and most people understood the rationale behind the decision. Almost the entire quarter for which I am publishing this report, we have been working in a smaller team.

By cutting back on marketing, we saved 80K PLN in the ccFound budget, making it drop from about 480K to 400K PLN per month. We analyzed whether it would be possible to reduce these costs more - unfortunately not. This would have to be at the expense of halting the creation of the ccFound.com platform. We are still trying to reduce the cost of the cloud services (the environment on which the platform stands).

VC

What worked well for marketing was the process of building relationships with VCs. We have built a marketing machine for this, which has shown that they will not invest in ccFound at this stage. Classic VCs prefer to invest in businesses that already generate income. Crypto VCs are currently in retreat because we're in a bull market.

The world is preparing for World War III, and the global financial system is on the brink of collapse. VCs are preparing for a recession and are waiting to see if we gain any traction. Taking this feedback to heart, I focus on generating exactly this.

OBJECTIVES

In generating traction, we have three goals:

1. aquiring new users (30k in 2022)
2. activating users (so that they return and use ccFound)
3. monetizing user activity

We are clear that these goals should be focused on in that order. The second follows from the first, the third from the second. The first base has been covered:

AQUISITION

We are currently working on marketing with two of us - with Director Wiktoria Jaros, who manages ads from the analytical side. I can say that marketing has started to work.

We have developed reporting standards and monitor daily the number of registrations (broken down by advertising channel), confirmations, questions and answers. We optimize ads for the cost of user acquisition.

For this year we have a goal to reach 30,000 users. We monitor daily the indicator of how many we need to acquire daily to meet the target - currently 240. The indicator changes to the disadvantage if the ad stops performing.

We have launched effective ads with several video variants. We pay 6-9 PLN each for (unconfirmed) registration on Facebook. On TikTok we go down to as low as PLN 2-3.

We measure how many people confirm the registration - about 60-70%, depending on the day. We implemented sending 3 confirmation reminders, which required rebuilding the confirmation link engine.

We acquire 150 to 350 new users per day. On 19-10-2022 we surpassed 10,000 confirmed registrations for the first time. At the time I am posting this we have 10872 confirmed.

We have launched the ccFound affiliate program in which anyone can participate. We pay $1 per verified user. It is too early to summarize the effectiveness of this program. We will continue to develop it.

There was an attempt to invite influencers to join the affiliate program through 3 major bidding sites and it resulted in a pivot. I made a decision to take a chance with some of them and pay a lump sum, check the effectiveness of the activities and prepare the next campaign based on that. We also established cooperation with an influencer acquisition agency.

We focus on the Polish market. Acquiring a user is many times cheaper than on the English-speaking market. And we will acquire these users partly for free. How?

You may remember my webinars where I said that questions from ccFound will rank in Google. This is already happening! We have completed the SEO optimization of the portal. Already (for now, some) questions are indexed in the search engines and we are noticing people entering ccFound from Google.

For the time being, we are only translating content in
❀2πŸ‘1πŸ‘1
to Polish and English. We are launching French and Spanish soon! It will take us much less time to incorporate more languages, because we've developed an administration panel to enter interface translations (and notifications!) independently of the developers.

This means that we will gradually see the network effect of more and more: content on ccFound and the number of languages - resulting in a greater presence in search engines.

ACTIVATION

Activating users requires working on the product itself. In this regard, I prioritize tasks in IT sprints so that UX (user experience) is high. We have implemented user surveys and panels from which we draw conclusions. We are polishing many small elements, which would take a long time to write about in this report.

The most important accomplishment is the migration of the platform to the new environment, which has significantly sped up the loading of the ccFound.com website. The platform is displaying fewer and fewer errors and running more stably. I believe we will soon be able to take the "beta" designation off the portal.

Ahead of us is the creation of welcome tutorials and descriptions of individual functions, which will be placed tooltips or pop-ups shown when you hover over a function.

Most importantly, more notifications should be sent to users encouraging them to return to ccFound. That's why we're developing a mobile app that will make notifications pop up on users' phones. I think this step will be revolutionary, because even in terms of FB and TT ads we get users mainly from mobile devices.

We are implementing the most important notification, which will be a daily email to each user, summarizing his individual activity on ccFound. It will include answers to his questions, comments on the answers he has given, subscribed content and aggregate statistics.

MONETIZATION

At this point we have the equivalent of 9,070,248 PLN (according to the report calculated in dollars - $1,874,018). We hold these funds largely in USD or AED, which is rigidly pegged to the USD, and that protects us from the rising value of dollars to other currencies around the world.

We have limited our holdings in cryptocurrencies to about 17% of capital to reduce risk in the face of a pending collapse, which we intend to play out to the project's benefit. In a worst-case scenario, we are limiting exposure to potential declines. "We will earn less" if they don't happen.

What is the biggest threat to the project? When I started ccFound, developer salaries were around 8-10k net. Nowadays they start at around PLN 20k net. Therefore, in addition to VC, we are considering how to raise capital; however, we are focusing on monetization.

You can see that we have resources for 22 months of operations. A few months ago we exceeded the resources for 2 years, which was my goal - and now the clock is ticking. We can't rest easy until we build a revenue stream (analogous to a user acquisition stream).

What is it about streams (of revenue, of users)? The hardest thing to start is something that doesn't exist yet. Once the stream exists - it can be optimized. That's why launching highly performing ads was a great relief for me

The second relief will be when users start purchasing FOUND vouchers, and the third when they start using them - even if only to some small extent like 2-3 transactions a day. Then it's only a matter of time before we scale!

Paywalls and paid questions on ccFound are already working, but almost no one is using them yet. In this regard, we are improving the interface to make it easier and encourage users.

We are reviving the idea of regular publication of paid questions by our editorial team to get users used to the fact that such a function is there and can be used to earn money (or to spend it).

The function of paid questions has existed for a longer time, but unfortunately we first observed errors with the calculation of commissions, and then we did not take into account the need to send notifications of earnings. These oversights have been patched, so we can promote paid question
πŸ‘3
s again.

Let me remind you that we want to monetize better than any other social medium. Predictive markets - betting on market movements and world events - could be a hit in this regard. They are, unfortunately, fraught with legal risk, and for now we are getting approval for this in Poland (it's a matter of getting an interpretation that they are not betting, i.e. gambling).

Almost completed is a large Marketplace module that will allow users to publish online courses and ebooks. I expect implementation in October! This element of ccFound may be the product within itself, which be famed among influencers and experts. This is because they have an analogous challenge to ours. They can't afford developers to build their own stores. Using ccFound is becoming no longer an option, but a necessity.

ORGANIZATION

We are struggling with the elaborate system architecture needed for us to have the potential for future decentralization - and to delegate elements of it to be developed by the open source community. Because of this, programmer hours don't always go to creating new functionalities, as you would expect if you have experience in smaller projects.

I can assure you that managing a larger IT project is a completely different reality. That's why we are improving our work organization. Although I think the IT organization is good, but we have commissioned an audit from an experienced consultant and CTO. We are implementing recommendations.

We are recruiting a front-end developer - to no avail. The number of hours of front-end developers at ccFound is 320 - versus as many as 720 on the back-end, making this type of work go faster for us. That's why we're training two back-end developers to become full-stack and perform tasks on both sides.

DETAILS

We launched the function for suggesting translations of answers (previously it was only for questions). We added marking content as 18+ - it is hidden by default and you can manage your preferences.

I mentioned the affiliate program, and didn't add that - in order for it to come into existence - we implemented user verification with an SMS code and added a verification page that displays at login until successful. We also added a welcome toplayer that explains what the portal is and encourages registration.

We involved ccFound's administration staff to improve content quality on the portal. To this end, an "editor" permission was created, which in the future any user with the right reputation will be able to acquire on the platform.

We have implemented a system for validating the content of questions, which protects against asking a question with content consisting of a single word. Thanks to all this, you can see order on ccFound.com, while not long ago there were plenty of questions with undeveloped content like the famous questions titled just "How" and "Why".

I don't report here on strictly technological achievements, the numerous fixes and patches, or the achievements related to the completion of the specification of functionalities that are coming soon, such as "Pay me for answering" and the merging of similar questions - which we will do in part automatically using AI.

Also coming soon is a system for suggesting tags for translated content, based on AI. We have been working on this for months and are just finishing integrating the functionality.

We still have a long way to go, but we are catching wind in our sails. Priority: traction.

Another big step for ccFound.com! A daily summary of notifications. We will work on the little bugs, but the most important thing is that now each one of the 15,000 confirmed users will receive an incentive to return to the platform every day πŸ™‚

We are regularly asked - what is FOUND voucher and how is it different from FOUND coin? We've explained this a few times (it’s also covered in the "wallet" tab on ccFound), but only now have I sat down and made a truly comprehensive answer with examples. Quick report: (1) we didn’t anticipate that it would suck so much competing with Christmas-time advertisements on ad platforms, so registrations are down :-( (2) But also engagement is up thanks to the new daily summary newsletter and other UX changes :-) // We have some groundbreaking plans for 2023, you’ll see soon!

Recruitment for the program of the National Center for Research and Development has started. Up to PLN 20 million is to be raised. We are working!

Did you know that you can pin an iOS mobile site to your iPhone desktop like an app? Here's how!

We go to ccFound.com via Safari, and then click on the share button.

Select the "To Home Screen" option. We set the bookmark title - the correct spelling is lower case, "ccFound".
