I miss having cold. It is a minor inconvenience which just ruins your days but you know you will get over it. But you kind of feel like you won't. It feels like you will live with that itchy throat forever.
But you won't.
I think cold is a snapshot of life.

There is this lollipop I saved for souvenir, a year back.
It was a foolish act. But it reminded me of that specific day when I saw it again today.
It is an ambo water lollipop. I didn't even know they made those until that day. Maybe it is one of those trial sales cause I never saw it again.
Was it from a date? No it was from a duty. A very busy duty.
As an intern assigned at obstetrics and gynecology wards, I had the responsibility for two maternal wards and the gynecology ward.
It was lunch time and boy was I hungry. I wanted to have candy not to get cranky or worse dizzy. They had no candy at the hospital shop. I bought the ambo lollipop. Broke it and put a piece in my mouth.
It was a busy day at the 3 wards.
I came from antenatal care and attached the mother I brought to the NST machine. As I was chitchating with her, my phone rang. (I always did chitchat with patients through simple procedures. I ask where they came from and their worries and their children).
There were many things to do.
1. Alert anesthesia for emergency procedure for ectopic pregnancy
2. Another NST for a mother with reported decreased fetal movement
And the big one was...
3. Intrauterine transfusion.
The entire fetomaternal team was at room 63. The obstetrics ultrasound and procedures room. A mother with RH immunization was lying and a senior was doing the procedure. The room was staffed. ObGyn residents, family medicine residents, fetomaternal medicine fellows were all there.
My role:
Keep the O- blood on guard. Have the test tubes ready...and just when the syringe gets in... offer it... run to 52 with the blood... then come back.
I was excited!!! I had a very important role. But my phone kept buzzing.
Write the OR materials for the woman at gyne ward.
Contact Dr. X and not Dr. Y. This is duty time.
Dr. we are waiting for the NST.
Check if OR is ready.
Dr. We want you to stand right here with the tubes.
I run up and down of the MCH those 2 hours.
All the while thanking the lollipop.

I made my first book tree this year. I have been wanting to do this for two years now. But I couldn't for one reason or the other.
It didn't come out to be a pretty tree. And definitely not as big as I wanted it to be but I loved making it and having it in my room.
Each book that I put reminded me of things: people who gave it to me, people who recommended it, a day I got that book, days I read the book, bookmarks left in the books and many many more.
The base for example is three big books only one of which is mine. I wanted to make the tree exclusively of my books but that couldn't be as I need big books as a base. One of the big books is Harrison's which I bought from a guy who is cinephile and recommended some great films after we became acquainted when I bought that book.
I realized I have many አዳም ረታ's and it made me really happy.
Many book are gifts which date as back as high school: ባሪቾ፣ ታለ፣ አለንጋና ምስር፣ the happiest man in earth፣ ኤልያስ መልካ፣ war and peace... it reminded me of a lot of people I love and cherish.
Even the smallest books at the top are very treasured ፍቅር እዚህ ቦታ ፈገግ ብሎ ነበር (I loved this መድብል so much I bought it two times as a gift to friends)፣ ውልብታ (My friend and I were reading it out loud to each other in a taxi trip from Piassa to Saris while sitting in the front and the driver was cracking up with us. He said he really enjoyed the trip when we left)፣ Anthon Chekhov plays which was I read during the pandemic and later wrote a confused essay on, the stranger by Camus (I let out a gasp when I saw it on sale)...
The one on the very top is እሳት ወይ አበባ... I haven't read anything like it in a long while... it is my dad's but I just love love love that book.
I can go on all day but the point is...
I love books and I am so happy I live in the world where books do. 😁
I have these two friends who are very close to my heart and mind... as we talk... we agreed that... books are awesome in the way that they don't hold grudges. You know you let a book wait to be read for months and years but when you finally pick it to read it still gives the best version of itself... while people don't... you know...
And I love books. And even though it is not the prettiest, this tree is my favorite for it is made of things I love so much. And if you think of it, papers are just different version of trees.
❤

I watched a good movie.
I started it hesitant but was kept hooked for the entirety of 2 hour and 30 minutes.
The anatomy of a fall is directed by a woman named Justine Tiret and played by actors who play characters with their own names. (No I don't think it is a coincidence 😂)
It is a courtroom movie. It is about a writer who gets accused of killing her husband after he was found dead allegedly falling from the attic. They live in an isolated place in France and their son is blind which complicates the matter with no witnesses.
As she was put in court, we see their marriage on trial as well; with everything they have been through put for judgement and scrutiny.
It is amazing really. It made me think how the people we love the most and share a life with are probably the people who make us feel the worst or the ones we compromise a lot for. In a way, the people we love are the people we have enough reasons to kill. 😂 If there are enough reasons to kill.
There is even an argument scene which is so good. I love argument scenes. They feel so intense. I loved the one from 'Marriage story' and I still rewatch it a lot. In a way, arguments are the most genuine conversations. We say the ugliest yet truest things when triggered like that.
There is good music. Good shots. Good attire of prosecutor, lawyer and judges. French. What not.
I love both of these covers hence I put them here.
Friends, I recommend you to watch the Golden Globes award winner for best foreign language film and Cannes Palm d'or winner, ANATOMY OF A FALL
And disucss at @lozacas

I really liked the book. It made me want to close my eyes... you know. One sad thing is you can't close your eyes and read.
