TDLib (Telegram Database Library) makes it easy to develop feature-rich and secure apps. This update brings improved chat previews on par with iOS. Now you can scroll through them to view the whole chat without marking it as read. If you don’t want messages in your secret chats to hang around forever, Telegram lets you set self-destruct timers to permanently remove them. After a message is received, it remains in the chat for a predetermined period — you can choose times between one second and one week – before disappearing.

At the same time, all existing features that users have come to expect and rely on for nearly a decade remain free. Moreover, non-premium users will be able to enjoy some of Premium's benefits: for example, download the extra-large documents and view stickers sent by premium users, as well as tap to increase counters on premium reactions that were already added to a message. However, if you haven't moved beyond the basics, you're missing out on a lot of the best Telegram functionality.
