82nd donor: "One chance in tens of thousands, and it fell to you"
In September 2025, in the Bone Marrow Donor Registry the 82nd donation was held at Pirogov University. The donor was Alexandra Chechkina from Moscow, a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at Moscow State University.
Alexandra learned about the Registry during one of the Donor Days at Moscow State University. Being an experienced blood donor with more than fifteen donations, she donated blood for typing without hesitation.
A call from the Registry found her on vacation. "I was at the seaside, relaxing. And then it turned out that everything was surprisingly accurate. My job involves business trips, I rarely stay in Moscow for so long, but here everything coincided by dates. I think it's fate."
Relatives reacted to the news with caution, but their questions only helped Alexandra to make sure that the decision was correct once again. She felt weak during the stimulation, and the donation procedure itself lasted about five and a half hours. After that, the girl recovered quickly and immediately returned to work.
Alexandra admits that the coincidence was a real miracle for her: "As a mathematician, I understand how small the probability of a coincidence is. One chance in tens of thousands, and it fell to you. It's so amazing that it's impossible not to help. I think that's why we need to register: the probability is low, but if a match happens, then it should have happened."
We would like to express our gratitude to Alexandra for her caring attitude and willingness to help a person for whom this help is vital!

This academic year's first seminar from the Methodical Thursdays series for staff responsible for extracurricular activities was devoted to the role of sociology in the work of the university. The participants discussed how surveys among students and teachers influence management decisions. The meeting focused on key aspects of youth policy and partnership in this area.
Maria Tokareva, Project Manager 706/3 of the Caring Person platform, spoke at the seminar. She presented the scope of the project: 1,300,000 registered users, 581 participating universities and 6 main surveys for three key audiences - students, teachers and administration. The platform's research covers a wide range of topics, from family values and inclusion to the quality of education and the social well-being of students.
In her speech, Maria shared the results of recent research: on the state of youth policy and educational work, as well as on family values among medical students. Using this data as an example, she showed how the survey results help to more accurately assess the interests of students and adjust the formats of extracurricular activities.
The seminar ended with a discussion in which the participants discussed cases of using surveys to transform the university environment, scientific research and assessment of the quality of education.

The representative composition of the jury, which included about 50 leading experts, gave special importance to the event. The students' skills were assessed by experts from Pirogov University and the Buyanov State Clinical Hospital, as well as representatives of the SM Clinic, the N.V.
Family is the key to longevity: Olga Tkacheva spoke at the IV National Congress
The IV National Congress "National Healthcare" opened in Moscow today, a key platform for industry leaders to discuss issues related to healthcare modernization and improving the quality of life of citizens.
Olga Tkacheva, Director of the Russian Gerontological Research and Clinical Center at Pirogov University, took part in a discussion on the topic "Family as the basis of health: continuity of healthy habits."
"Family is the foundation of health and longevity, an environment where a culture of caring and continuity of healthy habits are formed. It is here that a person learns responsibility for himself and his loved ones," Olga Tkacheva shared an important thesis.
Developing this idea, O. Tkacheva noted that the attitudes laid down in childhood are passed down from generation to generation. As an example, she cited families where grandparents remain active: in them, children form a positive image of aging and a willingness to take care of their own health. Conversely, the attention of younger family members to the elders helps to notice the first signs of age-related diseases in time and reduces the risk of social isolation of the elderly.
Summing up, Olga Tkacheva emphasized: "Old age is an important resource of society, its experience and wisdom. In order to realize this resource, it is necessary to develop a system of geriatric care and prolong the period of healthy, active life of each person. Meanwhile, the family should become the link where health and longevity turn into a sustainable life value."
