The Christmas Truce is a term used to describe several brief unofficial ceasefires that took place during Christmas and Christmas Eve between German, British, Belgian and French troops in the trenches during the first World War, especially those between British and German troops stationed along the Western Front in 1914, and to a lesser extent in 1915. In 1915, there was a similar Christmas truce between German and French troops. In 1915 and 1916, a truce also took place at Easter on the Eastern Front. 🇫🇷🇩🇪🇧🇪🇬🇧

January 3, 1383, end of the Maillotins revolt. The Maillotins revolt was a popular tax uprising in Paris, taxes which were deemed to be far too high. The King showed no weakness, and in 1383, a terrible repression fell on the rioters whose leaders were beheaded or hanged without further trial. This veritable "fiscal revolt" led to martial law and prompted Charles VI to take matters back in hand. The main victims were the tax collectors (their registers were burned) then the Jews (16 killed). 🇫🇷
