There’s a difference between pointing out what’s wrong with the Zoomers and needlessly bashing them. This is the latter.

Furthermore, I don’t know why I should prefer the few Zoomers that are “fun” and party. They’re more degenerate than the list I read out over a year ago.

Is the right really more concerned with “having fun” in simping orgies with disgusting people that can barely read or spell than they are with trying to have a functional society?

It looks like Rod Dreher is leaving public blogging and retiring to a subscriber-only Substack. This is probably the end of Dreher’s career as a relevant public figure for the right.

I guess this is good. Despite his cluelessness, Rod Dreher didn’t deserve to become the public lol-cow he became in the last year.

However, in another sense, this is symbolic of a broader generational transition that’s very bad, where younger Boomers and older GenX opt-out of reality, take early retirement, and retreat to cul-de-sacs of handwringing and self-assuring illusion. Really, these people need to become allies and moral supporters even if their ideas are horribly unsuited for our times.

In a sense Dreher (more so men like him) are OUR failure because we haven’t found the proper language to reach out to them. One thought experiment (and that we don’t have a good answer for) is what is it that New Right really wants from these conservative figureheads radically out of sync with their times (other than not canceling us)? What can they do that’s productive given that they probably can’t change WHO they are at this stage.
