Passage 2
This Part 4 is from the Listening marathon
was this part 3?
Objective consideration of contemporary phenomena compels the conclusion that success or failure in competitive activities exhibits no tendency to be commensurate with innate capacity, but that a considerable element of the unpredictable must invariably be taken into account.

George Orwell, 'Politics and the English Language"

This is such a bad sentence. Can you rewrite it?
This girl speaks 8 languages at a high level (almost all at B2-C2 level), and learnt all these langauges without leaving Turkey - her motherland. Her advice on language learning is quite solid. And the most impressive thing, she finished high school this year and is only 18.

THE SOLUTIONS:

• Put important actions in verbs
• Invent characters to perform actions
• Express simple cause in a when-then sentence

When one objectively considers life events, then one must conclude that success or failure has no correlation to natural talent, but that chance is an important factor.
1) Education helps people get a good job
2) Education provides people with improved career opportunities
3) Scholarship abets citizens to appropriate a superior profession

Which one should you write more of for a better score in IELTS Writing?

As you know, words like "so on", "so forth", "etc,." "e.g." cannot be used in IELTS Writing because they are not in a correct register. Can you guys tell me a good alternative to "so forth" that you can use in IELTS Writing Task 2?
We have believed that work builds character (punctuality, initiative, honesty, self-discipline, and so forth )

Well, I’d just simply recommend against using any alternative, and instead tell you to simply end the list with the last item.

We have believed that work builds character (punctuality, initiative, honesty, and self-discipline).

Or simply think of an umbrella term and write “and similar + umbrella term”

In this use,

We have believed that work builds character (punctuality, initiative, honesty, self-discipline and similar traits).

If you really want to say that these are not all the things you want to list, then you can use the word “and the like” or “to name a few/two/some etc,).

We have believed that work builds character (punctuality, initiative, honesty, self-discipline and the like)

We have believed that work builds positive character traits, such as punctuality, initiative, honesty, and self-discipline, to name a few.
Those asking me in DMs, what might be given on the 13th of June,

I stick to pie charts.

As for Task 2, I think we are more likely to see "Why is this the case? What can be done?" essay this time.

I believe the sentences similar to #1 are often used in blog-posts, essays, captions and the like whereas the second one is probably what you are expected to write in your IELTS Writing essays.

The third one is an overkill, definitely. All the fancy-looking words are wrong incorrect word choices. Generally, refrain from using sentences similar to #3.
The chase of status has no end

An example paragraph with sentences similar to #1 from one of my favorite writers.
What you get for Speaking tomorrow

part 1 work studies/laughing/not understanding jokes
part 2 describe a time when you asked for predictions on the internet
part 3 why asking predictions for speaking or asking for predicting questions generally is stupid
