NEW: The 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals will hear the Justice Department defend Alina Habba's appointment as acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey on Monday.

The hearing follows an August lower court ruling deeming her appointment—via a “novel series of legal and personnel moves”—unlawful, per the Associated Press.

U.S. District Judge Matthew Brann (an Obama appointee for Pennsylvania's Middle District) ordered her actions since July voidable but stayed the ruling for appeal.

DOJ filings argue she validly serves as first assistant under federal statute.

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to decide whether a federal law that bars frequent users of illegal drugs from possessing a firearm violates the Constitution’s right to bear arms.

The Trump administration, which is defending the law despite its overall support for gun rights, had asked the justices to hear its challenge of an appeals court ruling in favor of Ali Daniel Hemani, an alleged regular user of marijuana who was charged with violating the law.

It is the same law that Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joe Biden, was convicted under in June 2024 before being pardoned by his father.

NEW🚨: Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier launched a criminal investigation into the online gaming platform Roblox, calling it “a breeding ground for child predators.”

The criminal investigation follows a civil subpoena that Uthmeier’s office issued to Roblox in April over its child protection policies. Uthmeier said in an interview on Fox & Friends that his office found evidence that Roblox has been “operating in a careless way” and alleged that the company is aware child predators have used their platform.

“They know child predators are using the app to go after our kids and they haven’t done enough about it,” Uthmeier said. “They don’t have enough protocols in place for age verification. They’re not doing enough to monitor the content that’s being shared over the application, sexual content with 8- and 9-year-olds. And, ultimately, they haven’t done enough to work with the state to ensure proper online protocols.”

Before the leaders met Friday, Trump seemed willing to provide long-range missiles to Kyiv, but pivoted following a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “With a single phone call, Putin appears to have changed President Trump’s mind,” one source told Politico. His meeting with Zelenskyy was “volatile,” the Financial Times reported. Trump apparently repeated Moscow’s talking points, calling the conflict a “special operation,” not a war, and suggested Russia would “destroy” Ukraine. Putin’s demands have scaled back, however: He proposes drawing borders along existing lines in the war, rather than demanding further territory.

JUST IN💥: The New Jersey Republican State Committee has requested that the Department of Justice’s Division of Civil Rights deploy monitors to oversee the processing of mail-in ballots in Passaic County for the upcoming election in November.

The letter, sent to Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon by a law firm representing the committee, stated, the "request that the Division of Civil Rights dispatch monitors to the Passaic County Board of Elections to oversee the receipt and processing of vote-by-mail ballots ('VBM') in the November 4, 2025 General Election." They also asked "that the Division of Civil Rights take steps to monitor access to the Board of Elections around the clock to ensure the integrity of the voting process."

The letter said that it was not just to New Jersey Attorney General’s Office "at fault," and that the Passaic County Board of Elections and Chairman John Currie, who is also the Democratic County Chairman of Passaic County, "are equally at fault."
