ICYMIπ₯: President Donald Trumpβs legal team has filed administrative claims with the Justice Department for about $230 million over prior federal investigations. However, Trump said Tuesday he is not personally seeking compensation and would donate any award to charity.
Trumpβs attorneys have filed two administrative claims with the Department of Justice totaling roughly $230 million, alleging that federal law enforcement officials violated his rights during investigations that predated his return to office.
According to individuals familiar with the filings, the first claim, submitted in late 2023, cites the FBI and special counsel investigations into Russian election interference and possible connections to Trumpβs 2016 campaign. The second, filed in the summer of 2024, concerns the 2022 FBI search of Trumpβs Mar-a-Lago residence for classified documents and the subsequent criminal case alleging mishandling of government records. Both filings allege privacy violations and malicious prosecution, with the second also accusing federal officials of harassment intended to influence the electoral outcome.

NEWπ: Author Michael Wolff is suing Melania Trump after the first lady threatened to sue him if he didn't retract statements he made about her and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Wolff accused Melania Trump and her husband, President Donald Trump, of making a practice out of "threatening those who speak against them."
The Daily Beast published a story based on an interview with Wolff, which the outlet removed in July and ultimately apologized for, admitting it did not meet editorial standards. Melania Trump's attorney issued a legal threat challenging "the headline and framing."
Wolff had argued that the first couple seeks to punish foes by trying "to silence their speech, to intimidate their critics generally, and to extract unjustified payments and North Korean-style confessions and apologies," through legal action, according to the AP.
The author said the legal threats "are designed to create a climate of fear in the nation so that people cannot freely or confidently exercise their First Amendment rights," the AP reported.

Details of LeBron Jamesβ injury status were sold by his pal and former Los Angeles Lakers coach Damon Jones as part of a massive prop betting scheme, according to court docs and law enforcement sources.

NEWπ¨: The conservative Fair Election Fund rolled out a digital ad campaign today, zeroing in on Microsoftβs partisan leanings and security lapses that threaten fair electionsβurging Congress and regulators to dig deeper. This builds on their September report, timed with FTC Chairman Andrew Fergusonβs August letters blasting Big Tech for bending to foreign censorship demands, like those from the EU or China, that could stifle American speech and erode data protections.
Case in point: Co-founder Bill Gates quietly slipped $50 million to Future Forward USA Action, a dark-money group fueling Kamala Harrisβs 2024 runβmeant to stay under the radar until it leaked.
Meanwhile, President Brad Smith and wife Kathy Surace-Smith hosted a 2023 fundraiser piping cash to the Biden Victory Fund. As peers like Zuckerberg and Musk showed up for Trumpβs January 2025 inauguration, Smith headlined at Davos instead, amid the forumβs Jan. 20-24 overlap. Post-inauguration, Microsoft dug in on DEI commitments, bucking Trumpβs crackdown and peers like Meta and Amazon whoβve dialed back.
Board member Reid Hoffman, LinkedInβs co-founder and a top Democratic donor, ignited backlash at July 2024βs Sun Valley conference by quipping heβd wished to make Trump an βactual martyrββjust days before the assassination attempt. He backpedaled, framing it as a call for legal accountability, but shareholders demanded his ouster anyway.
