A Space in the Heart

MrBeast, the richest youtuber on the planet, looks very "happy". Don't you think?

Lips can fake it but eyes can't and I wonder why?

I guess they are the reflection of the heart.

I heard that there is an empty space in the heart. No amount of money, fame or accolades can fill it. It can only be filled with the divine love that only a true believer can feel at times.

I dont know about you but I feel sorry for people like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates. They try to fill that space in the heart with their achievements and worldly accomplishments.

However they never get to feel what an ordinary Muslim feels when he offers 2 rakahs of prayer all alone at night and gets to experience a connection with Allah SWT on much deeper level which is pure pleasure in every sense of the word.

ONE YEAR TO LIVE

Anthony Burgess was 40 when he learned that he had only one year to live. He had a brain tumor that would kill him within a year. He knew he had a battle on his hands. He was completely broke at the time, and he didn't have anything to leave behind for his wife, Lynne, soon to be a widow.

Burgess had never been a professional novelist in the past, but he always knew the potential was inside him to be a writer. So, for the sole purpose of leaving royalties behind for his wife, he put a piece of paper into a typewriter and began writing. He had no certainty that he would even be published, but he couldn't think of anything else to do.

"It was January of 1960," he said, "and according to the prognosis, I had a winter and spring and summer to live through, and would die with the fail of the leaf."

In that time Burgess wrote energetically, finishing five and a half novels before the year was through (very nearly the entire lifetime output of E.M. Forster, and almost twice that of J. D. Salinger.)

one year to live But Burgess did not die. His cancer had gone into remission and then disappeared altogether. In his long and full life as a novelist ( he is best known for A Clock-work Orange), he wrote more than 70 books, but without the death sentence from cancer, he may not have written at all.

Many of us are like Anthony Burgess, hiding greatness inside, waiting for some external emergency to bring it out. Ask yourself what you'd do if you had Anthony Burgess's original predicament. " If I had just a year to live, how would I live differently? What exactly would I do?"

I have some tough questions to ask myself but I'm sharing this with you in case you can relate:

Would you be willing to put aside your desires, dreams and aspirations to do something for the benefit of others?

How much time and effort can you put into the betterment of the Ummah and please Allah SWT without seeking any worldly gains?

Who do you really look up to and take inspiration from and why?

P.S. I have shared this video before but I wanna do it again b/c just like most of us, I need a reminder
The True Wealth of Selflessness

There was a man who, despite being wealthy, would eat stale bread.

One day, a friend came to visit and said, "Come on, since I've come to see you, slaughter a sheep and set up a feast." The wealthy man agreed, slaughtered a sheep, and prepared a beautiful meal. Just as they were about to eat, the wealthy man said, "Wait, let's take this food to such-and-such place. They have many children; let them enjoy it."

The friend then asked, "Why did you do that? Wouldn't it be good if we ate it too?"

The wealthy man replied, "If I eat now, I'll be satisfied, and I would make you happy too, but all of this would only be for this world. When I die, none of it will benefit me. But bringing happiness to those children's hearts will bring me benefit in both this world and the hereafter."

Using ChatGPT's Voice to learn a language is pretty incredible.

I'm improving my mother tongue (let's say its German) that I only learnt until the age of 3 years old. The best way to improve a language beyond the beginners stage is by talking. of course, though it could be difficult to find people to talk to, tutors can be problematic and software up until now was subpar.

Voice, however is extraordinary. I ask chatgpt to correct my sentence in German and give three alternative ways in better German to say it, and then to continue the conversation by asking me a question in German. It does extraordinarily well, and gives phrases that are of typical use German.

Funny enough the accent that is used is an American German, however the pronunciation is perfect, and with the variable intonations it sounds very realistic.

What I find even more amazing is that I can say phrases in my terrible German, including substituting English words for words I can't remember in German, or if I mangle the sentence, and chatgpt understands everything including my point for that sentence. It's pretty crazy.

I tried using it to help me learn French, which is at a lower level than my German, and even after asking it to speak slowly, it still speaks too quickly in French. This is hopefully something they will give us control over, as currently it's a bit too quick for more beginner language learning.

However for any level of learning there is a great plugin called Speak, which is very good for written language learning . I ask it to correct my sentence, provide three alternative ways to say the sentence in the language (formal, colloquial and slang), and then to ask me a question in the language to continue the conversation. It works better than chatgpt without the plugin.

I also use German in my work occasionally with clients, and I need to improve it, so I ask the AI to role play with me using correct technical jargon, and this works great.

All in all, AI is already a marvelous tool for language learning.
