How do you like them apples ?

📚A phrase used to draw attention to one's cleverness or superiority to the one being addressed, especially after a recent triumph.

1. You remember how you said I would never get into law school? Well now I'm valedictorian. How do you like them apples?

2. Hey, jerk, guess who made the varsity team after all? Yep, how do you like them apples?

3. How do you like them apples? Yep, you got outsmarted by your "dumb" little brother.

اصطلاح "How do you like them apples?" در زبان فارسی معادل‌های مختلفی دارد که بسته به موقعیت و لحن گوینده می‌تواند متفاوت باشد. در اینجا چند معادل رایج و کاربردی آورده شده است:

معادل‌های رایج:

خوب شد؟ دیدی؟ حالا چی میگی؟/حالا چی میگی در موردش؟:

این معادل‌ها برای زمانی به کار می‌روند که شخص مقابل شکست خورده یا در موقعیت بدی قرار گرفته و گوینده با لحنی پیروزمندانه و یا طعنه‌آمیز این جمله را به کار می‌برد.

چی فکر می‌کردی؟/فکر می‌کردی چی بشه؟:
این معادل‌ها نیز برای زمانی مناسب هستند که شخص مقابل انتظار نتیجه‌ای خاص داشته اما نتیجه کاملاً برعکس شده است و گوینده با این جملات، تمسخر یا سرزنش خود را نشان می‌دهد.

حالا دیدی؟/حالا فهمیدی؟:

این معادل‌ها زمانی استفاده می‌شوند که شخص مقابل در اشتباه خود پافشاری می‌کرده و حالا با دیدن نتیجه کار، به اشتباه خود پی می‌برد.

حالا خوبت شد؟:

این معادل هم به نوعی همان معنای پیروزی و تمسخر را دارد، اما با لحنی تندتر و شاید کنایه‌آمیزتر.

مثال:

فرض کنید در یک مسابقه فوتبال تیم شما با نتیجه‌ای غیرمنتظره تیم حریف را شکست می‌دهد. بعد از بازی، می‌توانید به بازیکن یا هوادار تیم مقابل بگویید: "How do you like them apples?" که در این حالت، معادل مناسب فارسی می‌تواند "حالا خوبت شد؟" یا "دیدید؟" باشد.

در کل، انتخاب معادل مناسب به موقعیت و لحن گوینده بستگی دارد.

📌تفاوت even though و even if‌:

1️⃣ Even Though = despite the fact that = although
اگرچه، با وجود اینکه
I like her, even though she can be annoying at times.
او را دوست دارم، اگرچه گاهی اوقات روی اعصاب است.

Even though he left school at 16, he still managed to become prime minister.
او با اینکه/اگرچه در 16 سالگی مدرسه را ترک کرد، توانست نخست وزیر شود.


2️⃣ Even If = whether or not
حتی اگر (چه اینجوری بشه، چه نشه!)
Even if you take a taxi, you'll still miss the train.
حتی اگر تاکسی بگیری هم به قطار نمی‌رسی.

Even if she survives, she’ll never fully recover.
حتی اگر جان سالم بدر ببرد، باز هم هیچوقت بطور کامل بهبود پیدا نمی‌کند.

1. I shot myself in the foot

🔸 معنی: خودم به خودم ضربه زدم / گند زدم به خودم
🔸 کاربرد: وقتی با یک حرف یا کار اشتباه، ناخواسته به خودت ضرر می‌زنی.

🗣️مثال:

I mentioned I was free all weekend, and now I have to help everyone move.
I really shot myself in the foot.

📌فارسی‌: «با دست خودم خودمو بدبخت کردم!»

2. You put your foot in your mouth

🔸 معنی: حرفی زدی که نباید می‌زدی / حرفت بی‌جا یا توهین‌آمیز شد
🔸 کاربرد: وقتی یه چیزی می‌گی که باعث شرمندگی یا ناراحتی کسی می‌شه.

🗣️مثال:

I asked her if she was pregnant — turns out she wasn’t.
I totally put my foot in my mouth.

📌فارسی‌: «گاف دادی!» یا «حرف بی‌جا زدی!»

3. You put the shoe on the wrong foot (یا درست‌تر: You put the shoe on the wrong foot)

🔸 معنی: وضعیت یا نقش‌ها رو اشتباه درک کردی / طرف مقابل رو به اشتباه متهم کردی
🔸 کاربرد: وقتی کسی تقصیر رو به اشتباه گردن یکی دیگه می‌ندازه.

🗣️مثال:

Don’t blame me for the mistake — you’re putting the shoe on the wrong foot!

📌فارسی‌: «داری اشتباهی رو مقصر می‌دونی» یا «داری جابه‌جا قضاوت می‌کنی»
