Another Session Of #nowyouknowwithena : Useful Tips ( i hope ) For Speaking Test !
These are my personal tips as an ordinary student who has never gotten anything below than 90 since I was in primary school π₯
[ PART 1 ]
The teacher's going to ask you some general questions. The answer's simple but make it longer! For example :
1. What is your name?
β "My name is Bedah."
β "My name is Zabedah binti Lebai, but you can call me Bedah as short."
2. Where do you live?
β "I live in Sungai Petani, Kedah."
β "I live in Sungai Petani, Kedah, one of the tourist attractions in Malaysia."
3. What country would you like to visit someday?
β "I would like to visit South Korea."
β "I would like to visit South Korea because I'm attracted to their culture."
4. Do you plan to work after your exams?
β "Yes."
β "Yes, I would like to gain some experiences before getting into adulthood."
[ PART 2 ]
The teacher's going to give you a topic to talk about and some questions that you need include in your talk in order to complete the task. Calm yourself down, it's really not that hard. Just answer the questions in the booklet given and you're good to go! Don't make it complicated, keep it simple but cool.
β Talk about a friendship you started with someone.
β’ Who is the person?
β’ How the friendship started?
β’ What do you like about him/her?
β’ How teenagers can maintain strong friendship?
[ PART 3 ]
The teacher's going to give you and your partner a bubble map of a topic with six points to talk about together. You'll be given 20 seconds to look at the task.
β’ During that 20 seconds, distribute 3 points for each of you and decide which one of those 6 points will be your final decision.
β’ You'll need to describe your opinion on each point, whether you agree or disagree and why you do so.
β’ You can tell about your experience as an evidence to support your explainations. For example ; childhood memories, things that actually helped you, etc.
β’ At the end of the talk, you need to decide one point that both of you think is the best out of all and explain it, of course.
β’ The teacher will ask both of you a question regarding the topic given. I would say its quite hard because you need to think carefully to answer it. But don't panic! Just keep giving simple answers.
β How far do you think learning English helps people to live a successful life?

β’ How teenagers can maintain strong friendship?
β When I was 12, I started a friendship with a really beautiful girl. Her name is Aina, she was my classmate back in the days. The friendship started when I accidentally dropped my pencil under her desk, I was so scared to ask her to pick the pencil up for me but surprisingly she picked it up without me asking her for it. After that incident, we started talking and became really close after several days. I really adore her kindness, energy, and honesty. I think, teenagers can mantain strong friendships by being honest and helpful to each other like we always do.

β "I think that listening to music does help students to study English. This is because, a lot of teenagers these days prefer to listen than to read. "Line Without A Hook" by Ricky Montmogery is one of the songs that helped me studying English. Do you agree with me, Bedah?"
β’ At the end of the talk, you need to decide one point that both of you think is the best out of all and explain it, of course.
β "We both decided that reading novels helps students to learn English the most because there are a lot of fun genre that could attract students to read and would help expand their vocabulary."

β How far do you think learning English helps people to live a successful life?
β "I think that learning English can increase job opportunities. This is because, many employers, especially in international companies, require English proficiency in their employees. Even the simplest job requires you to speak in English. For example, you need to know basic English to be a supermarket cashier so that you can assist customers regardless of the languages they speak."

Good morning everyone!
1. Cut to the chase - get to the point
π "Please cut to the chase and tell me what you need."
2. Rain check - to postpone or reschedule
π "Since I'm busy tonight, can I take a rain check on our dinner plans and reschedule for next week?"
3. It is what it is - accepting the situation as it is
π Despite the unexpected delay, we just have to accept it; it is what it is.
