How To Improve CA and O ( since most of you are confused on why your marks got deducted on that part ) !
1. Communicative Achievement
β Match the tone and style
β’ Use an informal or semi-formal tone (since you're writing to a friend or peer).
β’ Avoid being too formal (no "Dear Sir/Madam") and too casual ("Yo", "LOL" etc.).
β’ Use contractions (e.g. Iβm, weβll, canβt) to sound natural.
β Fulfill the task fully
β’ Always answer all parts of the question or prompts given.
β’ Respond to your friendβs message naturally, just like a real reply.
β Engage the reader
β’ Ask questions back: e.g. βHave you ever tried this?β
β’ Show enthusiasm: βIβm really looking forward to it!β
β Use varied expressions
β’ Instead of repeating βI like,β try βI enjoy,β βIβm into,β βIβm a big fan ofβ.
2. Organisation
β Use paragraphs clearly
β’ Structure your email into at least 3β4 paragraphs:
Opening β Greeting and reference to their email
Body β Answer all points/questions
Closing β Friendly wrap-up or follow-up question
Sign-off β See you soon / Take care / Bye for now
β Use linking words and connectors
β’ To sequence ideas: Firstly, Then, After that, Finally
β’ To add points: Also, Besides, Whatβs more
β’ To contrast: But, However, On the other hand
β Start and end naturally
β’ Start: Hi [Name], Thanks for your email!
β’ End: Thatβs all for now. Hope to hear from you soon!
β Avoid one big block of text
β’ Make sure each paragraph has 2β4 sentences. White space makes it readable.
