Today's Session of #nowyouknowwithena : Writing A Review! πŸŽ¬πŸ“–

This is usually my go-to when writing a review for SPM English Part 3. You can review a movie, book, product, or place, depending on the question. Just follow this structure and adjust according to your topic!

Title:

β€’ Mention what you’re reviewing. Keep it clear and relevant.
Example: A Movie That Left Me Speechless

Paragraph 1: Introduction

β€’ Say what you're reviewing (movie, book, restaurant, product, etc.).
β€’ Mention the name and your general opinion.
β€’ Say why you chose it.

Template:
If you are looking for [type of thing], you should definitely check out [name]. I recently [watched/read/tried] it, and I was really impressed. In this review, I will share what I liked about it and why you might enjoy it too.

Example:
If you are looking for a movie that will truly touch your heart, you should definitely check out The Pursuit of Happyness. I recently watched it, and I was incredibly moved by the story. In this review, I will share what I loved about the movie and why I think it’s worth watching.

Paragraph 2: What It’s About

β€’ Briefly describe what it’s about β€” just the basics.
β€’ Don’t spoil too much!
β€’ Say what kind of story it is (funny? emotional? action-packed?)

Template:
The story follows [main character] who [main plot]. Along the way, [something interesting or emotional happens]. It is a [genre] that keeps you [emotion].

Example:
The story follows Chris Gardner, a struggling salesman and father who faces many hardships while trying to build a better life for his young son. Along the way, he experiences homelessness, rejection, and heartbreak. It is an emotional drama that keeps you inspired and hopeful throughout.

Paragraph 3: What You Liked

β€’ Talk about what you liked most.
β€’ Use adjectives (touching, exciting, funny, realistic, powerful, etc.)
β€’ Mention a specific scene or feature.

Template:
What I loved most about [name] was [highlight]. It was [adjective] and really [effect it had on you]. I especially liked [specific scene/aspect].

Example:
What I loved most about The Pursuit of Happyness was the strong bond between the father and son. It was heartfelt and really reminded me of how powerful love and determination can be. I especially liked the scene where Chris finally gets the job, the raw emotion in that moment was unforgettable.

Paragraph 4: What You Learnt or Felt

β€’ Talk about the message, moral, or how it inspired you.
β€’ You can include personal thoughts or how it relates to real life.

Template:
One thing that really stayed with me was the message about [lesson/value]. It reminded me that [personal reflection]. I think many people can relate to this, especially those who [group of people].

Example:
One thing that really stayed with me was the message about not giving up, no matter how hard life gets. It reminded me that success comes to those who keep moving forward, even when everything feels hopeless. I think many students can relate to this, especially those who are chasing their dreams despite challenges.

Paragraph 5: Conclusion

β€’ Summarise your opinion.
β€’ Say who you recommend it to.
β€’ You may add a rating if you want.

Template:
To conclude, [name] is a [adjective] [type of thing] that truly deserves attention. I would recommend it to anyone who [target group]. I would give it [rating] out of 10!

Example:
To conclude, The Pursuit of Happyness is a powerful and emotional movie that truly deserves attention. I would recommend it to anyone who loves stories that are real, inspiring, and full of heart. I would give it a solid 9.5 out of 10!
