I've just read a post about tumblr people lamenting that twitter people are on twitter lamenting that tumblr is dead and they miss tumblr and that censorship ruined it. And the tumblr people argue that it's like having someone talk about you being dead standing right next to you, that tumblr is just unmarketable, not dead.

I think tumblr is very much alive, but as someone who's been online for the past 20+ years, I can confidently say that today it's not necessarily censorship ruining tumblr (the porn bots stay though, aren't they, miss unmarketable), although censorship is wrong no matter what.

What ruins my user experience on tumblr is:
- 18 years and we still can't search for ANYTHING, the search function is absolutely useless
- asks glitching in and out of existence
- communities and their subsequent spam in your timeline

And if the first two points are something we're all used to, communities really fucking irk me, because 20/15 years ago, if I wanted to navigate a forum-like website, I would just go to a forum like-website. THE FORUM-LIKE WEBSITE WASN'T SHOVE IN MY FACE WORSE THAN IG DOES WITH THREADS FFS.

I've been seeing quite a lot of videos of child free people giving reasons why they are child free lately, and most of them are centred around very real and sad stories of people who made that choice but lived it as a sacrifice or as mourning.

And it pisses me off.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to dismiss any traumatic experiences, I'm sorry for the pain they're feeling and, as an afab person in their mid thirties, I know a number of people who are now going through a very tough journey of loss and acceptance, whatever the reasons may be.

What pisses me off is that this kind of content going viral could pass the message that you're valid in your child free choice only if it's a suffered one, like the only "good" reason to be child free is that you tried your best and cannot have children.

You can be child free just because. You can do whatever you want. You don't need a tragic backstory, you don't need to have, at some point, wanted children to justify you not wanting them now.

Autonomy and body autonomy don't come with conditions and requirements.

You don't need to suffer to earn happiness.
You don't need to reach the bottom of the barrel to make choices about your life.
You don't need to try it all to be valid in your choice.
