in Minya Governorate, Beni Mazar District, the village of Jelf, Egypt.

Christian families were forcibly displaced from their homes, beaten, and had their houses set on fire. The son of one of the families—a 16-year-old boy—was imprisoned on a false charge, accused of expressing affection toward a 17-year-old Muslim girl, although this never actually happened.

The poor family was fined one million Egyptian pounds—a massive amount impossible for impoverished laborers to pay. Moreover, the attack extended to all Christian homes in the village, where fires were set, and men, women, children, and even infants were brutally beaten without any reason or justification.

Women fled in their house clothes, and the families were expelled from the homes they had worked so hard to build. They were completely displaced from their village—along with their children and their serious physical injuries—while their livelihoods were destroyed by these extremists who looted their money, claiming it was permissible because it belonged to “infidels.”
The police did not arrest the perpetrators and left them free.
