📊 US trade deficit grows

In May 2025, the US trade deficit increased to $71.5 billion; in April, it was revised to $60.3 billion.

📦 Exports fell 4% to $279 billion due to lower sales of non-monetary gold, natural gas, metal products, semiconductors, aircraft engines, and telecommunications equipment.

❗️ Imports declined by 0.1% to a 7-month low of $350.5 billion, mainly due to reduced purchases of consumer goods, industrial materials, and raw materials.

📉 This could lead to a widening trade imbalance, pressure on the dollar, and possible economic consequences, including changes in tariff policy and an impact on inflation.

❗️ U.S. President Donald Trump said his administration will begin sending tariff letters to trading partners on Friday. The letters will have rates ranging from 10% to 70% and will take effect August 1 if no deals are reached by the July 9 deadline.

🛢 OPEC+'s plans to increase production by 411,000 barrels per day in August may pressure oil prices and increase volatility in commodity and currency markets. XBRUSD is currently trading at 68.06.

🇦🇺 Reuters analysts expect the Reserve Bank of Australia to cut rates by 0.25% on July 8, which could weaken the Australian dollar. The AUDUSD is currently trading at 0.6573.

⚡️ Despite the S&P 500 hitting a new all-time high, only 22 stocks in the index reached their peaks, which points to weak market breadth and increased correction risks. Such an imbalance — when only a few tech giants drive the index's growth — historically signals market overheating and reduces the likelihood of sustained growth. At the moment, the US500 is trading at 6260.

💸 Bitcoin and gold have topped the 12-month return rankings for the second year, continuing to outperform key stock indices significantly and strengthening their status as both safe-haven and speculative assets. BTCUSD is currently at 109,000. XAUUSD is presently at 3340.
