Jilin and Earthscanner - more data providers are enabled in the Mapflow API. The search for this imagery is already available for the #Mapflow-#QGIS users (starting from v2.3.0).

Jilin is a powerful constellation growing rapidly. In 2021 ESA noted that "...JL-1-GF03 series can be used to get daily images to support DailyVision service for change monitoring that must be useful to agriculture growth monitoring, economy prediction, city planning and so on". (source: https://www.eoportal.org/satellite-missions/jilin-con#mission-status)

Now the Daily Vision constellation consists of more than 50 sats + plus a few items of higher resolution.

However to place an order one still needs to contact sales which is not cool for application developers.
This is our new step towards automatic streaming integration of Mapflow with Chinese satellite data providers. More details to come soon.

GeoAlert is a company that develops the AI-Mapping Platform Mapflow.

#AI-#mapping is a rapidly developing technology with the potential to revolutionize the way we map the world around us. But can it really replace human mappers and significantly speed up the mapping process?
In this talk, we'll explore the current state of AI mapping, its potential benefits and drawbacks, and how it can be implemented into your workflow. We'll also share examples of successful country-wide mapping projects using AI, and discuss the possibilities for 3D city modeling and infrastructure monitoring.

Mapflow enables the cost-effective workflow to automatically update 3D maps using only 2D imagery. The Mapflow workflow engine is designed for the large-scale imagery processing with the avarage speed of 1 min per 4 Megapixel (~ 1 sq. km VHR). Lidar technology and aerial photogrammetry are most accurate but much more expensive when it comes to the large coverage. Mapflow AI models leverage segmentation of shadows, regression and other ML technique to perform on a single satellite image with the claimed accuracy of ±3m RMSE in a large and dense urban environment.

📢 Our friends from the #Spacetech Russian-speaking community host the event which will take place in 5 cities at once: Astana, Almaty, Tashkent, Yerevan, and Limassol. And we are even looking for more to join. ))

#Geoalert CEO Georgy Potapov is taking part as a speaker.

The meeting language is Russian but online translation to English will be organised.

Hey guys! On Thursday, November 23rd, we are setting our third (!) international SPACETECH meetup in more than 5 countries at once!

If you are interested in Space and advancements in space technologies around the world - join us!

This time we've invited speakers who will take us through the investment trends of the space business, give more details on how space technologies are used on Earth, and reveal secrets about how the things really are in the European space industry!

We are meeting in 5 cities - Astana, Almaty, Tashkent, Yerevan, Limassol, and, of course, broadcasting online to the whole world!

Visit the website for more information and register for the Meetup! It is going to be fascinating!

Mapflow QGIS update!

Version 2.4.0 gets a new cool yet experimental feature - streaming of vector tiles directly from Mapflow server.

Why is it better? It allows one to view the results of the model output without downloading the file so that it will be much faster for big areas. Plus it allows to avoid the possible issues with QGIS conversion we've been reported about by some of our users. (Older version of the Plugin converts GeoJSON file to GPKG format for the optimised view in QGIS).

This is an experimental feature so far, in particular, we noticed that sometimes QGIS can slow down due to the unlimited requests for vector tiles. In case you don't want to use vector tiles, you can turn it off (see "Settings" tab) and use gpkg-based results view. But we will be thankful if you share your issues and comments while we are collecting the feedback.

The button "Save to file" will save the file as GeoJSON without any translations. This is the most reliable method and is good for further processing outside of QGIS.

And one more nice tiny feature - now you can create a layer and draw an arbitrary polygon in one-click using "Add AOI" menu. Stay updated!

Here is a good example where vector tiles for #mapflow #qgis are useful. A whole dataset of buildings for a large area may take a long time to load as a file, while tile-based view will be ready in a couple of seconds

In the meanwhile Mapflow plugin got more than 68K downloads in total. 😉 Great to hear about the applications discovered by the external experts.

This week we've been invited to conduct a practical seminar for MSU students (faculty of geography and faculty of space research) by the faculty senior research scientist Mikhail Zimin. It was nice to visit MSU after a long time. Hopefully, it was also useful for those looking forward to becoming geospatial and mapping professionals to learn about scalable methods and tools to analyse Earth Observation data and to produce mapping on a large scale.

Following the seminar, we discussed some UI improvements that we are going to implement in the next version of the #Mapflow-#QGIS plugin to make it easier and more intuitive to get started with. 😉

The hottest spot on the Mapflow usage map ever is the Reunion Island (if weighted by processing cost and density), where our customers mapped all the populated infrastructure in the area of 2,500 km². Thanks to them for trusting our product and look for their success story that will be published on our website.
