How much information does Snape have on horcruxes?
Hello! It’s been a while since i read the books.
Did dumbledore share all of his knowledge about horcruxes with Snape, you think? Does snape know that voldemort created 7 horcruxes? Would snape be able to recognize a dark object and suspect it is a horcrux, sort of like how the golden trio realized the locket, as a horcrux, was making them more evil? Would he know how to destroy a horcrux? Would he KNOW that it’s basically impossible to destroy a horcrux?
Maybe as he has dabbled in the dark arts he might know information about the horcruxes idk. What do you think?

If you had to ReName Films 7 or 8, what would you title them?
Suppose you weren't a fan of any of the films being called 'part 1' or 'part 2' and instead wanted them to have a unique/individually grandiose name like the other six, which one would you ReName? Would 7 Be Deathly Hallows and 8 has a new title? Or would 7 get a new name and 8 remains Deathly Hallows? Both feature the Hallows prominently, 7 introduces the Hallows and Elder Wand by name, 8 however has all 3 on screen!
If you want to ReName any of the other Films as a bonus, I'd be curious to hear but since the films have their own continuity, I'm curious what you'd come up with.

I am an IRL descendant of the honourable house of Black
Hello everyone!
This is a bit of a niche, fun piece of historical trivia that connects to the Wizarding World, and I thought the folks here would appreciate it.
My family name is derived from the French surname Néel. If you trace that back far enough through history, it ultimately stems from the Latin name Nigellus, which is a variant of niger, meaning "black."
So, while I don't have a tapestry or an animagus form, I can trace my lineage historically back to a name that translates literally to "Black."
I've decided I must be a Muggle descendant of a very, very early squib who was disowned before the name was officially established as "Black" in the UK!
It’s all in good fun, but it makes me feel like I have a tiny, tenuous historical connection to one of the greatest (and perhaps most troublesome) Pure-Blood families in the series.
What's your favourite piece of real-world history or trivia that you think would fit perfectly into the Harry Potter universe?

Why could harry shake hands with Quirrel in the Leaky Cauldron?
I am rereading the books and wondered why Harry could shake hands with Quirrel in the leaky cauldron? Was it mentioned in the books? I can’t remember

Mrs Weasley forgetting the platform for the Hogwarts express
Do you think there is any valid reason for Mrs Weasley asking in the first book, what the platform number for the train was? 😅😅 I am the biggest Harry Potter fan, but as I am rereading it I notice so many things, that just don’t make sense haha

So is mad eye the only one who know?
In the prisoner of Azkaban Lupin helps Harry learn how to do a patronus and tells the third years that 'no one actually knows what a Buggart looks like as they change into fears of who ever is around'.
In the order of the phenix Molly has mad eye check a cupboard for a suspected buggart. Madeye uses his magical eye and looks up through several floors and over to the cupboard and confirms it is a buggart.
So is madeye the only one who actually knows what a buggarts true form is?

If Harry Potter were a darker series, what would you want to see happen in the books?
Hello! Have you ever wondered what would have happened if hp wasn’t a children’s book? What dark scenes or moments would you have loved to see occur?
Personally, i’d love to see an explanation for how exactly (other than murder) the horcruxes were created.
Also! I’d love to know exactly HOW voldemort regains a physical form? Why is he a fetus in Goblet of fire? (I love the theory abt the pregnant woman who got murdered and he is the fetus) Do you guys have other theories?
Also! I’d love to see more of the Imperio curse. What if you could force someone to kill themselves? Dark stuff like that.
And obviously as a lover of romance, i’d love to see more of a developed romance. I like hinny but we could’ve had a better romance story, something more planned out. A slow burn if you will (yes im looking at you draco x harry). Anyway tell me your ideas!
What dark stuff do you want to see explored? (I’m writing a dark hp fanfic, give me ideas!)

Voldemort should have pulled an "accio glasses" on Harry
Hear me out, Voldemort should have used "accio glasses" on Harry. Without his glasses, Harry's vision would be blurry and he wouldn't be able to see as well. It's not easy to dodge spells and see where you're going with blurry vision. Oh to think of all the accio glasses chances Voldemort missed...

What was the point of this storyline?
In Order of the Phoenix, Ron is utterly perplexed to be made a prefect. He always assumed his gifted best friend would get the title. Every year, Harry suffers from some kind of success. Big or small.
Ron is astounded to be noticed above his friend at all. Even Harry believes it should have been him, and he becomes jealous when Ron gets something he thought was his. We even get a moment where Harry confronts the idea that maybe he does feel superior to Ron.
When the twins—who are largely responsible for Ron’s low self-worth and self-esteem (even Hermione is relieved when they leave because they’re such a disaster for their younger brother’s confidence)—mock Ron with, “Who would make Ron a prefect?” Harry laughs. He’s immediately ashamed. His jealousy doesn’t last. The author ensures that this flaw is only fleeting. Ron bombs as a prefect.
Later, Dumbledore explains to Harry that he gave the title to Ron only because Harry already had too much on his plate. Harry doesn’t gloat. He couldn't care less. Sirius is dead. Besides, he got over this flaw extremely quickly. Next year Harry gets the badge of Quidditch Captain anyway.
So what was the author’s intention with this storyline? What was it meant to highlight?
Harry's flaws? His jealousy lasts about two pages in the beginning of the book. It barely counts.
What else? Ron's struggles and weaknesses? Perfect. I get that. This seems accurate. Except, why include that Dumbledore moment in the end at all? I felt uncomfortable, because it seemed to validate Harry’s earlier unconscious feeling of superiority over his friend. Which is a very strange writing choice.
So help me guys, what am I overlooking?

Took me years to read the books, now I’m obsessed.
I’m 30 now and have always loved the Harry Potter films, though never read the books. Finally put some time aside to begin reading and they’re honestly so amazing - so many characters I didn’t know about, all of my questions (so far) have been answered, much much more depth to the characters. I must say reading the books has made me like the films less (I still like them) but only because it’s clear that a ridiculous amount of context was completely omitted from the film. I’m currently on Order of the Phoenix, & it’s my second favorite book so far.

Headcanon: Did Harry recover his Firebolt in the aftermath of the war?
After all the drama and hardships Harry went through with his gifted Firebolt since he first acquired it, it would have been unfortunate if he didn’t make an effort to recover it, or maybe some magic bystander found it and like a Good Samaritan, returned it.
First their quidditch brood was confiscated to check for tampering, then it helped Harry survive the Triwizard Tournament, was harshly confiscated by Umbridge, then used to evade the Death Eaters. It could have survived in the open wild where it landed for some time, due to its advertised durability.

Goblet of Fire had a Chance to do the Funniest Foreshadowing
As I was listening to Goblet of Fire again, I was thinking about Voldemorts Potion to resurrect his body. All throughout the book they mention how Percy keeps talking about cauldron’s and reports about thickness of the bottoms. It would be so funny if they get to the end of the potion and the bottom broke out cause Wormtail got one of the non-regulation cauldrons and messed up the whole thing. Anyone else have this thought?

"Does it make a difference, being Muggle-born?"
………………
“Does it make a difference, being Muggle-born?”
Snape hesitated. His black eyes, eager in the greenish gloom, moved over the pale face, the dark red hair. “No,” he said. “It doesn’t make any difference.”
“Good,” said Lily, relaxing. It was clear that she had been worrying
……………….
“I was. I would have done. I never meant to call you Mudblood, it just—”
“Slipped out?” There was no pity in Lily’s voice. “It’s too late. I’ve made excuses for you for years. None of my friends can understand why I even talk to you. You and your precious little Death Eater friends—you see, you don’t even deny it! You don’t even deny that’s what you’re all aiming to be! You can’t wait to join You-Know-Who, can you?”
He opened his mouth, but closed it without speaking.
“I can’t pretend anymore. You’ve chosen your way, I’ve chosen mine.”
“No—listen, I didn’t mean—”
“— to call me Mudblood? But you call every one of my birth Mudblood, Severus. Why should I be any different?”
He struggled on the verge of speech, but with a contemptuous look she turned and climbed back through the portrait hole
………………………
One of the reasons why I think the Prince’s Tale is one of the most fascinating chapters in the series is because of excerpts such as these. Two moments, separated by years but linked surrounding an important question and I love how the word “different” (difference in the first excerpt) is being used. I like how, in the first excerpt, Snape hesitates as we all know full well how he feels about Muggleborns before essentially lying, based on his own beliefs, to Lily. In a sense, Snape lies to himself as well as he gives Lily her answer
Years later, we see Lily admitting that she often looked the other way, in a sense, lying to herself about who Snape really is and who he was going to become. In the end, Snape was struggling to answer, just as he did all those years ago although obviously not to the same degree, but the difference this time was that he couldn’t give one and Lily finally admits to herself the truth of who her friend was and walked away.

Did anyone work out who the Hog's Head barman was before Deathly Hallows released?
When Order of the Phoenix came out, it always stuck out to me that Harry thought the barman at the Hog's Head looked vaguely familiar to him, and this was something I assumed would be paid off in a future book, but I never twigged it was Aberforth in the four years (and one other book) between that and Deathly Hallows. In hindsight, the reference to the Hog's Head smelling like goats should've been a dead giveaway, but I never put two and two together on that one. I was usually quite good at guessing where certain things were going (I worked out who RAB was pretty much immediately), so I wondered whether it was a surprise for anyone else, or if I was just being stupid.

Did Dumbledore know Harry was a Horcrux in Chamber of Secrets?
“You can speak Parseltongue, Harry,” said Dumbledore calmly, “because Lord Voldemort — who is the last remaining descendant of Salazar Slytherin — can speak Parseltongue. Unless I’m much mistaken, he transferred some of his own powers to you the night he gave you that scar.”
“Voldemort put a bit of himself in me?” Harry said, thunderstruck.
“It certainly seems so.”

Do you think Lupin was correct when he said Harry had inherited an old prejudice in hating Snape?
I find that sort of strange phrasing. I get what he means, Harry’s father and Sirius had a huge feud with Snape but Harry’s dislike and distrust Snape started because of how Snape was in classes. Snape was the one who chose to take things out on Harry so he set the tone for their relationship
