The HBO Series is NOT a Reboot of the fimlm...It's another Adaptation!

Some of the biggest content creators on youtube are spouting the same garbage I'd expect from Rita Skeeter. Why are they remaking the films? They're making Hagrid wear the same costume, what's the point?!

No.

This is like seeing a stage-play, based on a book, and complaining it somehow retroactivley ruined films also based on that book.

The fact this series is also going to be viewed on screen is irrelivant to the discussion. Harry Potter is NOT a FILM-Franchise, it isn't Star Wars. It started with and will always circle back to the fact it's a book series.

Edit:
OK, responding to comments, yes HP released 8 amazing films and they hold up as a film Franchise by their own own right. But that doesn't change the fact this isn't about them. This isn't a new series based on the filmverse, at all. It's about the bloody books!

It's not 1 or the other ya know, both on-screen adaptations can co-exist in their seperate sandboxes.

Even though each version has its own canon, each one also brings something into the ether. For example Lily's flower-fish spell. Not from the book,s exclusively from the films, but as far as most are concerned its a very Lily Evans thing to do. So now, for most, it's part of the lore. Who knows what other wonderful concepts will float to the surface.

Rereading PoA and I’m very impressed with Ron

Just finished the part where Harry gets caught by Malfoy in Hogsmeade and as he’s getting interrogated by Snape in his office, Ron bursts in and claims he gave Harry the Zonko’s products that he was holding ages ago. Just now realizing this means that Ron (during his sprint back to Hogwarts) correctly deduced that 1. Malfoy would go straight to Snape, so Snape’s office would be the likeliest place to find Harry, and 2. Harry would need an explanation for why he had a pocketful of products from Zonko’s

Lily & James

They died at age 21. Now why in the hell do they look at LEAST 45 in the movies. This has bothered me for 10 years but I just remembered that I have a reddit and I may not be alone

If wizards watched movies, what would everyone’s favorites be?

Personally, I think Bellatrix would be partial to the Saw franchise and Luna would like Legally Blonde.

Okay, I have to know

When someone dies, what is the cooldown period before their portraits can start talking to people again? Because when Dumbledore dies, his portrait is shown in the office and he’s asleep. But… Just wake him up and ask him to explain what the plan is from there to Harry? Like, bruh. Come on. Either there is a cooldown period or Dumbledore’s just being a jerk.

Who is the male equivalent of Dolores Umbridge?

Pretty straightforward question. I've been thinking about this and couldn't really come to a conclusion. It could be Argus Filch. He was petty and cruel but I don't think he comes close to Umbridge. Who am I missing out?

Voldemort should have known that Dumbledore was after the horcruxes already in HbP

During the start of the year feast the whole school notices that Dumbledore's hand is blackened and dead-like. There are at least a few people from the school in contact with Voldemort (at least Draco) Voldemort will know somehow (because it seems incredible that Dumblerore the greatest wizard of our times got hurt) and he will make the connection. It's too specific of a wound, being on the hand and Voldemort certainly remembers how he protected all of his horcruxes

Edit: i just remembered that on top of that, Snape explicitely tells Bellatrix and Narcissa that Dumbledore got injured

What ordinary line from the movie do you think are made exceptional by the context or by the actors delivering them?

To clarify, I'm not talking about great lines with meaning or deep symbolism... But some quotes from the movies can deeply resonate with us despite of that.

My own personal choice are

-That's why yer famous. That's why everybody knows yer name. You're the boy who lived. (Hagrid)

-A Christmas toast! To Mr. Harry Potter, without whom I would not be here. (Arthur Weasley)

-Perhaps you could give us the last Unforgivable Curse, Miss Granger. No? Avada Kedavra! The Killing Curse. Only one person is known to have survived it, and he's sitting in this room. (Mad-Eye Moody // Barty Crouch Jr)

What’s the Harry Potter propaganda you don’t fall for?

Me:
– That Harry should’ve ended up with Hermione

– That Ron was a bad friend to Harry

– That Dumbledore didn’t care about his students’ lives

– That Snape was a ‘rival’ to the Marauders (rivalry implies equality, and from what we know, Snape wasn’t their equal in any sense — popularity, social class, etc.)

What if a muggle born child refuses Hogwarts?

Or their parents, for that matter. Dumbledore tells young riddle that he doesn’t have to join the school if he doesn’t want to, and until book 7 school is not mandatory.

So, how so muggle born wizards and witches cope if they never get a magical education?

Why Voldemort is Bald? /s

Saw this post where someone said their 10-year-old sister thinks Voldemort is bald so no one can use his hair for the Polyjuice Potion.

Honestly, that logic is kind of solid 😭

Of course it’s not true, Polyjuice works with any part of the person, not just hair, but still, that’s some next-level kid reasoning 😂

Edit : The comments are hilarious 😂

Deaths might hit harder in the TV show.

A full season (at least) of getting to know Cedric...

Two seasons of Sirius and Harry's relationship building.

7 seasons of Fred, etc, etc, you get the idea.

If, as Dumbledore insists, there are worse fates than death, how come then is killing the ultimate act of evil?

For example, if the dementor's kiss is a fate worse than death, why isn't subjecting someone to it an even worse act of evil than killing them?

McGonagall should've worked as a professional Quidditch scout

The woman saw an 11 years old childs first attempt of flying and immediately thought: “That's it. That's gonna' be our teams most important player for the next seven years."

Did Anyone Else Feel Like Dumbledore Was Completely Out Of Character In “The Goblet Of Fire”?

Before anyone says it, I’m not just talking about the infamous “Dumbledore asked calmly” scene that is now a huge internet meme and has been criticized by fans ever since the film first came out back in 2005. It’s more than that. Every time that Dumbledore is onscreen in this movie, he’s yelling, shouting, and sounds pissed off. This is very jarring because he acted nothing like this in any of the other films.

I finished the whole HP series yesterday. I slept HEAVY on it. It's one of the greatest pieces of media of all time. I wouldn't have gotten the nuances, the complexity, the full nature of the story had I not waited till i became 35, so I don't regret it, but a part of me wishes I had read it earlier

I have played all the Legend of Zelda games, read Lord of The Rings, listened to Nas' discography, I usually check out the best pieces of the genre I'm interested it, but the Harry Potter book series is consistently the greatest piece of media ever. I give a score to all of the books, and the series as a whole here:

I have never experienced any piece of media as consistently great as the Harry Potter books

Hope you can check it out, as a fellow Harry Potter fan who shows love to the series

Why haven't magical criminals tried stealing the gold out of Fort Knox or other gold reserves? Or tried stealing anything of value, exchanging it for cash, and then using it to buy gold?
