Who is the male equivalent of Dolores Umbridge?

Pretty straightforward question. I've been thinking about this and couldn't really come to a conclusion. It could be Argus Filch. He was petty and cruel but I don't think he comes close to Umbridge. Who am I missing out?

Voldemort should have known that Dumbledore was after the horcruxes already in HbP

During the start of the year feast the whole school notices that Dumbledore's hand is blackened and dead-like. There are at least a few people from the school in contact with Voldemort (at least Draco) Voldemort will know somehow (because it seems incredible that Dumblerore the greatest wizard of our times got hurt) and he will make the connection. It's too specific of a wound, being on the hand and Voldemort certainly remembers how he protected all of his horcruxes

Edit: i just remembered that on top of that, Snape explicitely tells Bellatrix and Narcissa that Dumbledore got injured

What ordinary line from the movie do you think are made exceptional by the context or by the actors delivering them?

To clarify, I'm not talking about great lines with meaning or deep symbolism... But some quotes from the movies can deeply resonate with us despite of that.

My own personal choice are

-That's why yer famous. That's why everybody knows yer name. You're the boy who lived. (Hagrid)

-A Christmas toast! To Mr. Harry Potter, without whom I would not be here. (Arthur Weasley)

-Perhaps you could give us the last Unforgivable Curse, Miss Granger. No? Avada Kedavra! The Killing Curse. Only one person is known to have survived it, and he's sitting in this room. (Mad-Eye Moody // Barty Crouch Jr)

What’s the Harry Potter propaganda you don’t fall for?

Me:
– That Harry should’ve ended up with Hermione

– That Ron was a bad friend to Harry

– That Dumbledore didn’t care about his students’ lives

– That Snape was a ‘rival’ to the Marauders (rivalry implies equality, and from what we know, Snape wasn’t their equal in any sense — popularity, social class, etc.)

What if a muggle born child refuses Hogwarts?

Or their parents, for that matter. Dumbledore tells young riddle that he doesn’t have to join the school if he doesn’t want to, and until book 7 school is not mandatory.

So, how so muggle born wizards and witches cope if they never get a magical education?

Why Voldemort is Bald? /s

Saw this post where someone said their 10-year-old sister thinks Voldemort is bald so no one can use his hair for the Polyjuice Potion.

Honestly, that logic is kind of solid 😭

Of course it’s not true, Polyjuice works with any part of the person, not just hair, but still, that’s some next-level kid reasoning 😂

Edit : The comments are hilarious 😂

Deaths might hit harder in the TV show.

A full season (at least) of getting to know Cedric...

Two seasons of Sirius and Harry's relationship building.

7 seasons of Fred, etc, etc, you get the idea.

If, as Dumbledore insists, there are worse fates than death, how come then is killing the ultimate act of evil?

For example, if the dementor's kiss is a fate worse than death, why isn't subjecting someone to it an even worse act of evil than killing them?

McGonagall should've worked as a professional Quidditch scout

The woman saw an 11 years old childs first attempt of flying and immediately thought: “That's it. That's gonna' be our teams most important player for the next seven years."

Did Anyone Else Feel Like Dumbledore Was Completely Out Of Character In “The Goblet Of Fire”?

Before anyone says it, I’m not just talking about the infamous “Dumbledore asked calmly” scene that is now a huge internet meme and has been criticized by fans ever since the film first came out back in 2005. It’s more than that. Every time that Dumbledore is onscreen in this movie, he’s yelling, shouting, and sounds pissed off. This is very jarring because he acted nothing like this in any of the other films.

I finished the whole HP series yesterday. I slept HEAVY on it. It's one of the greatest pieces of media of all time. I wouldn't have gotten the nuances, the complexity, the full nature of the story had I not waited till i became 35, so I don't regret it, but a part of me wishes I had read it earlier

I have played all the Legend of Zelda games, read Lord of The Rings, listened to Nas' discography, I usually check out the best pieces of the genre I'm interested it, but the Harry Potter book series is consistently the greatest piece of media ever. I give a score to all of the books, and the series as a whole here:

I have never experienced any piece of media as consistently great as the Harry Potter books

Hope you can check it out, as a fellow Harry Potter fan who shows love to the series

Why haven't magical criminals tried stealing the gold out of Fort Knox or other gold reserves? Or tried stealing anything of value, exchanging it for cash, and then using it to buy gold?

Favorite Harry line in the entire series?

Sassy or Serious just from Harry

Movie; "Don't worry I will be"

Book; "Maybe we can get you and your hubby a joint room in Azkaban."

The ending is a bit of a mess. This is how I would clean it up a bit.

Alright, so the whole series proceeds as normal, right to the point where Harry's body is brought back to Hogwarts and he gets up and confronts Tom Riddle. He does the whole thing and tells him all the horcruxes are destroyed except Nagini.

Tom Riddle laughs and tells Harry there was another one he never found.

Suddenly, a booming voice calls out "You mean this one?" it's none other than 5 time Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award Winner Gilderoy Lockhart, in majestic robes so perfectly lilac that most species of birds are incapable of seeing it and think he is naked, (which he also looks impressive in). He is holding a harmonica.

Tom Riddle casts a powerful avada kedavda at him, but Gilderoy Lockhart deflects it with ease. "Sorry Tom, but I invented a simple and easy to teach spell to block avada kedavda this morning, so murder is going to be less common now."

With another stunning and attractive flick of his wand, Gilderoy handsomely destroys Nigini, the harmonica, and Cormac Mclaggen's broom, then finally Tom Riddle, who with his dying breath cries "Wow, that guy is so good looking."

Everyone claps. "But I thought you were actually a fraud?" the one with the scar and the glasses says. "I was, Harold." Gilderoy bellows before flashing a smile so impossibly charming that he wins the NEXT five Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Awards. "But then I realized I was actually even more brilliant than I was pretending to be. I just had to believe in myself. And that is the moral of the story."

Epilogue, 19 years later.

"But dad, what if I'm a huge dork and get put into Ravenclaw?"

"Gilderoy Gilderoy Potter, don't listen to what your brother Gilderoy says. The man you are named after was in Ravenclaw, and he was literally the coolest guy that ever lived and ever will."

Unrelated, Cormac Mclaggen was given a lifetime ban from quiddich and also society. All was well.

Does anyone else think the ending of HP was rushed (7th book)

Finding and Destroying the diadem, the snake, the cup, the horcrux in Harry and Voldermort himself all in the span of under 24 hours is a bit too quick if you ask me. Particularly as they had spent the beset part of a year looking for them all

What did Dudley see/hear when the dementors attacked him in OOTP?

Laying in bed listening to the books for the 1,000th time. Just curious - has it ever been stated what Dudley saw or heard when the dementors came in the alley? Harry remarks in the book on how he’d be curious to know what Dudley saw, so I was wondering if we’ve been told and it has long escaped my memory.

Leaving this here overnight to marinate with your thoughtful replies. 😂

Why wasn't there a funeral for Dumbledore in the movie HBP?

The HBP is one of the emotional books in the series and Dumbledore's death is a poignant turn in the end of the book too..and while rewatching the movie again after reading the book it got me thinking that why wasn't there a proper funeral for dumbledore in the movie ...in the book everybody's appallement is written so beautifully which made me think that a proper funeral in the movie would have been so good to resonate with..and i also feel like a lot of the details and timings of certain events were changed the most in the HBP movie than any other movies ...any thoughts on this?

A thought

It has been said by many people that they don't get why the Killing Curse is considered an Unforgivable, when you could just as easily kill someone with hundreds of other spells.

Here's my take

Consider how terrifying a spell designed to kill you outright, that requires the absolute conviction and intent to kill, and can just plough straight through most protective spells is to a culture that laughs about strewing parts of their body across an entire country?

If someone hits you with an entrail expelling curse or something then there's a good chance you can just have them put back in. We literally see someone have all of the bones in their arm unmade and then regrown. I'd wager that as long as a competent medic got there in time you could probably survive getting your head taken off with a cutting charm.

The Killing Curse just kills you. It snuffs you out without drawing a drop of blood, and no amount of Skelegrow or Wiggenweld Potion can do anything about it.

What do you guys think?
