Rumeysa Ozturk, a Turkish national who is undertaking a PhD. in the USA, has been detained.

It is believed that she was detained due to standing up for Gaza and calling on her university to "acknowledge the Palestinian genocide" and "disclose its investments and divest from companies with direct or indirect ties to Israel” in an article for her University's newspaper.

Her student visa may be cancelled, and she may be deported back to Turkiye.
