.@POTUS: "Stop at the battle line and both sides should go home, go to their families, stop the killing, and that should be it. Stop right now at the battle line. I told that to President Zelensky. I told it to President Putin."

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ November SNAP benefits are at risk from the government shutdown

As the nation's largest food safety net, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program helps 42 million low-income Americans afford groceries. While a pre-shutdown memo from the US Department of Agriculture says the program has enough in the bank to fully distribute this month's checks, a longer shutdown could mean beneficiaries could see smaller benefit amounts next month.

SNAP costs about $100 billion each year in federal funds to operate โ€” which translates to monthly checks of roughly $25 to $1,700, depending on a household's income and number of members.

Some states have higher SNAP enrollment than others. Data collected by the US Department of Agriculture shows that about 12% of Americans were receiving benefits as of August 2025.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŒพ US farmers still waiting on trade war aid as USDA blames shutdown

As the U.S.-China trade war continues to squeeze American farmers, many say they are running out of time and money while waiting for relief promised by the Trump administration.

โ€œTime is of the essence,โ€ said Virginia soybean farmer John Boyd, who warns that without immediate financial support, farmers may not survive. โ€œWhile the grass is growing, the cows are starving.โ€

President Donald Trump has pledged to redirect billions in tariff revenue to help offset farmer losses, but months later, those funds remain frozen. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins blamed the government shutdown for the delay.

โ€œWith the shutdown, that aid has been frozen,โ€ Rollins said Thursday.

Meanwhile, Trump has authorized $20 billion in economic support for Argentina. The move comes as China shifts its soybean purchases to Argentina in the midst of its boycott of U.S. products.

Senate Candidate Returns AIPAC Money As Pro-Israel Group Becomes Political Poison

In the latest indication that the war in Gaza is significantly threatening Israel's dominance over American politics, a sitting US congressman and Senate hopeful has announced he's returning donations received from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), and refusing to accept any more.

โ€œIn recent years, AIPAC has aligned itself too closely with Prime Minister Netanyahuโ€™s government," said Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton on Thursday, one day after announcing he was launching a primary challenge against incumbent Dem Senator Edward Markey.

"Iโ€™m a friend of Israel, but not of its current government, and AIPACโ€™s mission today is to back that government...I donโ€™t support that direction. Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™ve decided to return the donations Iโ€™ve received and will not be accepting their support.โ€

Moulton will refund $35,000 that he's received from AIPAC.

Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, key negotiators for President Trump in the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, felt โ€œbetrayedโ€ by Israeli airstrikes on Qatar during peace talks, they told โ€œ60 Minutes.โ€

The strike, targeting senior Hamas leaders in Doha, disrupted negotiations as Qatar was a critical link to Hamas.

Witkoff said it caused Hamas to go โ€œunderground,โ€ complicating talks. Trump criticized Israelโ€™s actions, believing they were not in its long-term interest. A deal was reached, with Hamas releasing 20 living hostages and othersโ€™ remains, while Israel agreed to withdraw forces to an โ€œagreed upon line.โ€

Witkoff and Kushner discussed meeting Hamas in person and outlined the next phase of the 20-point peace plan, covering disarmament, troop pullback, rebuilding, and Gazaโ€™s post-war governance on โ€œ60 Minutesโ€ Sunday.

I forgot how awful Democracy Now was. A few minutes of NPR speak is enough to ruin your entire day. I don't recommend watching the entire segment above
