Instagram is rolling out a redesigned interface to more users — and it’s clear where the focus is shifting: Reels and Direct Messages.
In the new layout, Reels now sits as the second tab and DMs as the third, placed ahead of the classic feed. Instagram chief Adam Mosseri says the change reflects how people actually use the app — spending more time watching short videos and chatting privately.
For creators and brands, this could mean feed posts take a back seat as Reels and private interactions become the new stars of engagement.
