“Nullification” in the russian army
The independent outlet Verstka has published a large investigation (https://verstka.media/im-pohuj-kogo-obnulyat-kak-kaznyat-v-rossijskoj-armii) into so-called “nullifiers” – russian officers who execute or otherwise kill their own soldiers.
Journalists identified over 100 officers accused of extrajudicial executions, based on formal complaints, testimonies, and messages from relatives of mobilized troops. The reasons for being nullified vary: refusing to attack, arguing with commanders, drunkenness, trying to flee, or simply refusing to pay bribes. Extortion has become systemic – soldiers must pay to avoid meat assaults or being thrown into punishment pits. Those who don’t pay are eliminated.
Punishment often takes the form of suicidal missions – assaults without armor, backup, or even weapons. Such soldiers are called “beacons” – sent forward to expose Ukrainian positions with their own deaths. Executions are brutal: shootings, torture, live burials. One described method is locking a soldier in a pit filled with freezing water; after hours of hypothermia, he’s dumped on the frontline to die from pneumonia or kidney failure.
There are cases when officers even use strike drones to execute their subordinates. Eyewitnesses do not understand why the equipment is wasted – but for many commanders it is a demonstration of power and "show punishment." To cover up the killings, corpses are riddled with bullets to simulate combat deaths, dumped in rivers, or buried on the spot. Families are told the men are missing or deserters, denying them any compensation or closure.

The shelling occurred on the morning of October 29: the russian army launched an artillery strike on a medical facility. In many of our regions, emergency and rescue operations are still underway after last night’s russian attack. It was a complex, combined strike: the enemy used more than 650 drones and over fifty missiles of various types, including ballistic and aeroballistic ones. Many were shot down, but unfortunately, there have been hits.
Ordinary residential buildings in Zaporizhia have been damaged, and there has been destruction at a dormitory. Tens of people have been reported injured in this strike, including five children. Tragically, two people have been killed. My condolences to their family and loved ones. Rescue operations continue. In Ladyzhyn, a seven-year-old boy has been seriously wounded. There have also been many vile strikes on energy facilities and civilian life across the regions – Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv regions. All the necessary services are deployed on the sites. All efforts should be made to restore power and water supply as swiftly as possible wherever it’s been disrupted.
Russia continues its terrorist war against life itself, and it’s crucial that every such vile attack on civilians boomerangs back on Russia with concrete consequences – sanctions and real pressure. We count on America, Europe, and the G7 countries not to ignore this Moscow’s intent to destroy everything. New steps are needed to increase pressure – on russia’s oil and gas industry, its financial system, and through secondary sanctions on those who bankroll this war. 623 ENEMY TARGETS SHOT DOWN
On the night of October 30 (from 19:00 on October 29), the enemy launched a combined strike on critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine using strike UAVs, air-, land- and sea-based missiles. In total, 705 air attack vehicles were used – 52 missiles (9 of them ballistic) and 653 UAVs of various types (about 400 of them Shaheds). Of these, the following were shot down:
- 592/653 strike UAVs;
- 0/4 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles;
- 0/5 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 7/8 Kalibr cruise missiles;
- 1/2 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
- 21/30 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
- 0/2 Kh-59/69 guided aircraft missiles;
- 0/1 Kh-31P guided aircraft missile.
Currently, direct hits of 16 missiles and 63 strike UAVs have been recorded at 20 locations and the fall of downed (fragments) at 19 locations in various regions of Ukraine. In addition, 3 enemy missiles (as of 11.30) are lost in location, information on the places of fall and consequences is being clarified

In Kostyantynivka, Donetsk region, Ukrainian troops shot down a russian FPV drone that was trying to attack foreign journalists while filming the destruction of the Holy Assumption Church.
According to the 24th King Danylo Mechanized Brigade, officer Oleh Petrasyuk noticed the drone approaching in time and shot it down with an assault rifle. This saved the lives of the comrades and the journalist, the brigade’s press service reported.
