For the first time! We are publishing russian statistics on losses of the russian armed forces in 2025! We have obtained data on russian army losses for the first eight months of 2025, and the numbers are staggering. In 243 days, russia lost 281550 men killed, wounded, and missing!
Of these:
- 86744 killed, including 1,583 officers and 8633 prisoners;
- 33966 missing, including 11427 prisoners;
- 158529 wounded, including 6356 officers and 16489 prisoners;
- 2311 captured.
Military equipment losses amounted to 13145 units that were irretrievable, while 48458 could theoretically be recovered.
Average monthly losses are 35193 personnel and 7700 units of equipment, of which 1643 are irreparable.
Every day, the russian army loses an average of one battalion (!) killed or missing – 496 men. Every month,seven brigades of the russian armed forces perishes. These figures are comparable to the soviet union's losses during the East Prussian Offensive, when 126000 soldiers died, yet the soviets occupied northern Poland and all of Prussia, including the Königsberg fortress. Modern russian generals have senselessly lost 120000 men, but have been unable to capture Pokrovsk for several years.
The casualty ratio is also very telling. Due to the lack of a proper system for evacuating the wounded from the battlefield, there are only 1.3 wounded soldiers for every one killed. This indicates a low survival rate for the wounded, who are poorly trained in tactical medicine and are usually abandoned without treatment after being wounded.
The "Center" force group, comprising the 2nd and 51st combined arms armies, is the absolute leader in casualties. The 51st combined arms army suffered the heaviest losses of equipment – 1642 units lost.
Next, with a noticeable lead but no less staggering losses, comes the 1st tank army, part of the West group of forces: 9987 irrecoverable casualties and 11411 wounded.
The elite russian units, which the command strives to preserve, lost 2272 paratroopers killed and missing in action and 3191 wounded.
It's not surprising that the russian government is in no hurry to collect the bodies of the dead, concealing their losses. The only time the russian ministry of defense, significantly understated, announced the official death toll was on March 25, 2022. Therefore, russian society must be mentally prepared for the possibility that, when the war ends, they will be told the real number of dead, missing, and wounded. Since the beginning of the invasion in February 2022, this number has already significantly exceeded 1 million personnel and 50000 pieces of equipment. This is the price of Putin's rule and the russian people's support for him.

For the first time in NATO history, the Ukrainian Navy led and implemented planning, coordination and control of the forces of a hypothetical enemy during the REPMUS/Dynamic Messenger 25 exercise, which took place in Portugal. The involvement of the Ukrainian Navy was supported by the NATO Joint Naval Command, the Portuguese Navy and the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center to test the capabilities of two dozen NATO member states.
The exercises took into account modern trends in naval warfare, in particular the use of unmanned systems for coordinated strikes and rapid response to threats.
The operational staff of the Ukrainian Navy organized joint work on planning and managing the forces of the hypothetical enemy from Ukraine and partner countries participating in training operations as part of the OPFOR. The joint exercises with the participation of the Ukrainian Navy were successful. Brigadier General Wojciech Ozga, Commander of JATEC, emphasized that by leading the enemy team, Ukraine has become not only a participant, but also a driving force of innovation, which directly strengthens NATO’s maritime resilience and shapes the future of collective security.
During the exercises, unmanned platforms were integrated into the DELTA combat system used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The integration was carried out according to the new NATO standard STANAG NATO 4817, the testing of which was also one of the important tasks of the exercises, namely checking their interoperability, testing unmanned systems in various conditions, including electronic warfare and training of operators. Together with Ukraine, REPMUS/DYMS-2025 was attended by forces and assets of the Naval Forces, enterprises, research centers of 26 partner countries, as well as representatives of NATO Maritime Command Northwood, the NATO Center for Maritime Research and Experiments, the Laboratory of Underwater Systems and Technologies of the University of Porto and the NATO Initiative for Maritime Unmanned Systems
