On the night of October 16 (from 20:00 on October 15), the enemy launched a combined strike on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities using strike UAVs, air-launched and ground-launched missiles. In total, the Air Force radio-technical troops detected and escorted 357 air attack vehicles:
- 320 strike UAVs, about 200 of them Shaheds;
- 2 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles;
- 26 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 2 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
- 7 Kh-59 guided aviation missiles.

According to preliminary data, as of 10:00, air defense systems shot down/suppressed 288 air targets:

On October 16, the 155th marine brigade made another attempt at a massive mechanized attack on Dobropil. The enemy set the ultimate goal as the capture of the settlement of Shakhove. The enemy command also tried to change the tactics of the offensive. If earlier columns of enemy armored vehicles with infantry advanced from the depths of their own battle formations, this time the enemy tried to pull the equipment closer to Shakhove and hide it in the forest belt in advance.

The maneuver was unsuccessful: 2 armored vehicles were detected by reconnaissance and destroyed by artillery and FPV drones of the Unmanned Systems Forces before they even tried to hide in the forest.
