Former Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i has called on the government to embrace dialogue and heed the cries of citizens protesting across the country
Matiang’i, in a statement, expresses solidarity with the thousands of young people who took to the streets in towns and cities across Kenya to mark one year since the tragic events of June 25, 2024, when Gen Z-led protests turned deadly.
He appeals to the state not to ignore the calls for justice and reform and asked security agencies to avoid using violence against peaceful demonstrators.
He warns that the continued use of force risks pushing Kenya down a dangerous and slippery slope.
