Peter Pichler Architecture has unveiled the recently completed Bonfiglioli Headquarters, a leading manufacturer of gear motors, drive systems, and inverters, in Bologna, Italy. The new HQ is conceived as NZEB (nearly Zero Energy Building).
The massing was designed by incorporating the courtyard typology of the existing masterplan buildings. The courtyard features a green garden on the ground floor, enhances natural ventilation through a chimney effect. The enlarged north facade maximizes the workspace with indirect natural light by tilting the roof in response to local sunlight conditions. With future flexibility in mind, the building boasts column-free open spaces through the Exoskeleton façade.
