Eveybody says/thinks/dreams they will change the world, but very few even start.

These guys here are doing an incredible job of spreading the notion that studying at the world's best universities is as accessible as never before in places very few officials, project managers, or people with knowledge thought or maybe even dared to go. That it is possible for a student in Fergana's most rural area to actually study at the world's best programs. And this is not to brag.

The problem is that the knowledge gap is huge between the ones living in urban settings and those in the rural. The former group can at least allow themselves to think about brighter educational opportunities, while the latter can't - the mere thought of it is ridiculed with "San qattasan-u, u univer qatta."

We direct our focus on the former, thinking that the latter will join them if they have the motivation or desire for it, but how can they have the desire or motivation if they can't grasp that it's a possibility?

We must at least try and spread the idea that it's possible, and I think this is a good baby step in making Uzbekistan a better place to live in.

I notice this time and again: to achieve extraordinary results, by definition, you have to work different from the ordinary masses.

A lot of things boil down to the fundamental law of supply and demand, just like the goals you want to accomplish - your value is determined by how scarce of a person you are; the more unique and irreplaceable your profile, the higher your value. The coolness of accomplishments, likewise, is determined by how few are capable of sweating their asses to end up actually achieving them. The harder the job, the higher the value, the more it takes to get it, the fewer will try, a very few will relish the fruits.

Want a high SAT? Be ready to read long daunting barely comprehensible science, history, and politics texts and books; be ready to dispose of all the cheap fun, unnecessary ideas, and even music; be ready to go several extra miles if you are aiming higher than others.

Want to get into a great university? Be ready to do the thing you should do to get a high SAT + those for IELTS + projects + competitions + essays and rec letters.

Want to get rich? I haven't done this yet, so can't say anything about this. buy the real world or sth)

The formula seems pretty easy when put into words, but it's orders of magnitude harder to pull this off in reality, let alone doing it consistently. Yet, you know what? You do the dirty job, you suffer, and you might even die. But the moment you'll get where you want, all the pain, all the agony, all the doubts will dissipate and you'll look back and say "it was all worth it", reveling in who you've become in the process.

SNU rejection

I take full accountability over this. Most of the application was filled out by a consulting agency, but I don't blame them for this.

Could I have not approached them in the first place? Could I have started earlier and not cramp everything into the last minutes? Could I have had my personal statement ready? Or even if I did go to a consulting agency, could I have picked the one with more experience and system?

I could. Did I? No. Am I in the power to change the outcome? No. But am I in the power to not repeat this? Yes.

The gist of today's post is taking full accountability over our actions and results we get. The universe is a net of cause and effect - what you are doing now will ultimately determine what you will have later. If you are not doing the things that bring you closer to your goals, it's very likely that you won't get where you want anytime soon (or ever). So, brace yourself, push, and focus - however farfetched, hard, boring, or crazy your ultimate goal is.

You cannot miss this.

Raw intellectual enrichment and real academic rigor. We are preparing something exclusively beneficial specifically aimed at people who want to take their analytical and creative faculties to another level.

This summer is your chance to pull off a groundbreaking academic comeback, and whether you are setting off to university, preparing for college application, studying for standardized tests, or just want to have the articulacy and knowledge to converse about anything and everything at length, what's to come will be our solution(s) to you.

Imagine dissecting the works of some of the most influential minds of history and today with your cherry-picked peers, putting down your thoughts in essay format to gain greater clarity about yourself, your values, and your vision, and make your rhetoric so good that even Jordan Peterson and Seneca would burn from envy, exploring foundational works in your field of interest

For now, that's all we can say. Please, stay tuned for further updates.
On reflections

Self-analysis is arguably the best way to become better at anything. Most of us live the life trying to maximize comfort and minimize discomfort. In many occasions, this entails refraining from looking at our shortcomings and avoiding the true but harsh realities. Importantly, the principal downside to this is stagnation, or, worse, degradation.

When honing any skill, it's important that we create a feedback loop, whereby we can fail, learn, and recover quickly. One of the more famous means of procuring a feedback is reflecting either verbally or textually on our life and experiences. Verbal reflection usually happens in a form of a formal or informal discourse in the presence of a certain counterpart (friend, family member, taxi driver on your way from Fergana to Tashkent), while the latter usually involves either penning down or typing out your thoughts, opinions, lessons, and arguments on a piece of paper or device/platform that enables note-taking.

Irrespective of the means, reflection gives us a glimpse into the aspects of our experiences that we are otherwise apt to omit. When we carefully think about everything that happens to us - our behavior, thoughts, faults, interactions, ideas, insights - we get the opportunity to understand their origins, implications, and potential avenues for improvement/solution.

There are some variations in how people tend to write reflections. The way I found particularly fit for myself is blogging. If you look through the very first posts here, I used to write about nearly anything and everything: movies, books, articles, politics, stoicism, education, space, programming, memes, experiences.

It's also possible that you journal on a regular basis. Every day before going to sleep, write out the important events that happened to you that day, mistakes you made, the reasons you made them, and doing what can make you better at it tomorrow.

This and blogging is what helped me a ton when I was preparing for my IELTS and SAT exams. Every time after a practice session, I would reflect on what mistakes I did, why, and how I can avoid doing them in the later sessions. Right now, I am passing this habit down the few of the students I am working with and enjoying to see more and more clarity in their thoughts and words.

It's always a pleasure to get back to this book over and over again.

Every time, there is a new way to look at his entries, and it's particularly appealing that every log is relatable - every log gives a bit more clarity to your thoughts.

My concern with AI.

With more and more advancements in AI and tech being shipped at insane speeds, and people becoming more and more hooked to using them, I'm worried that soon enough humanity will start losing their cognitive edge.

Brain is a like muscle - if you don't put pressure on it regularly, it will steadily atrophy.

AI chatbots are making it incredibly easy for us to access information, eliminating the need to filter, systemize, and reason through the insights we are taking in, which were the fundamental processes that kept our brains at bay from the modern prevailing mental disorders (adhd sort). With our brains not having to utilize their innate powers as often as they are supposed to, their vigor gradually wanes, making us, to put it blatantly, dumber, confused, distracted, and slothful.

Hence, a sensible conclusion would be to reduce our GPT-reliance, using and improving our God-given intellectual acumen rather than giving in to the fleeting and deceptive comforts of the regurgitated data output of a word-adding machine.
