This month we will not be hosting a large-scale community event in observance of Easter Sunday - however, there are some really exciting events happening in Central Texas which would be a great opportunity to folks to plug into and enjoy as an alternative.
On Sunday April 27th we will host an informal gardening club meeting in lieu of a larger scale meetup at Radical Roots Ranch. Come join us 2pm - 4pm to get your hands in the soil and check out our progress (and ongoing work!) in the spring raised garden beds.
On Saturday April 12th our good friends are hosting some events in the local community!

Some things in life fall apart so better things can fall together. The only time in life you fail is when you quit.
One thing I've nailed down these last few years is persistence. Not many people can afford 10 acres with two houses on it and to invest in homesteading projects.
Not only did i accomplish it, but I did it in my late 20s. I'm not perfect but i am a hardworking woman with a strong set of values. And nothing I've accomplished in the last 8 years would've accelerated if it weren't for my husband providing for us too and my 2 bonus kids who are somehow now almost adults in 4- 6 years crazy to think how the time flies.
Like the river in this video I'm just going with the flow. We've been hit with some hard challenges the last few weeks. Timing lines up with our big annual event - to figure. Despite all that though i feel a real nice rebalancing and lots of gratitude for these challenges because that's what makes you stronger 💪

Homesteading is hard.
Yes, it’s rewarding but it’s not the Pinterest-perfect life of cottagecore dresses and sunset gardens. Okay, maybe the sunsets are 🌞
Some days I want to quit. Cleaning chicken poop, losing tomatoes to hornworms, caring for dozens of life forms... it’s exhausting.
I thought having community on the land would solve things. Instead, we're $50k deep in property damages and a drawn-out insurance claim. That hasn’t been fun either.
Last year, Antony Sammeroff asked me, How would you sell the homestead life? I told him, I wouldn’t. I share it because it’s what the planet needs. Because deep down, there’s a longing to live in balance with nature.
Sometimes it works beautifully, like what Joel Salatin & family have built at Polyface Farm. And sometimes it doesn’t. That’s okay too.
In two weeks, I’ll finally visit Polyface and learn from the best. I’m hoping to bring back new ideas maybe even a chicken tractor design to save me from the endless coop cleaning!
