quia absurdum: necroeaster for the necroworld

a famous formula attributed to the christian apologist tertullian runs: “credo quia absurdum” (“I believe because it is absurd”). the dead have removed “credo” from this phrase, for only the absurdity remains (solum absurdum). the dead continue to resist, for it is absurd. the dead continue to continue –rolling a gravestone up the hill. the dead repeat the hackneyed phrase: “et omnia vanitas” (“and all is vanity”) – for faith itself has become vanity. the world is “discredited”, as those who just multiply the absurd like to say. there is no other world (“we share the same earth” – if there is a world at all), and “quod supra nos nihil ad nos” (“what is above us is nothing to us”), as a character in the dialogue “octavius” by another christian apologist, minucius felix, puts it. no god, no master. and the expected resurrection from the dead (Auferstehung) is, first of all, an uprising (Aufstand).

on saturday jesus (a sort of necrotheology)
quia absurdum: necroeaster for the necroworld

what happened to jesus on saturday, between the time he was killed and the time he was resurrected? what was this mysterious stop, the sabbath of death, when god lied in the tomb? was he really dead, or perhaps neither dead nor alive? or was he just fooling everyone and pretending to be dead? – but then he could not have “trampled down death by death”. however, the return to life, the resurrection from the dead doesn’t seem something miraculous to us – rather a fatal necessity (yes, life again). on the contrary, we find the miraculous in saturday, when god was truly dead (even if it lasted only a short time).

asking these questions, the dead visited an abandoned church, in which there was no priest, no parishioners, and no god
