Shaykh Ibn al-'Uthaymīn

The bigger desire you have for a sin, the bigger is your imaan if you leave it.
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

"If Allāh opens for you the door of standing in Qiyām al-Layl (i.e. the night prayer), then do not look at those who are sleeping with a look of disdain.

And if Allāh opens for you the door of fasting, then do not look at those who break their fast with a look of disdain.

And if Allāh opens for you the door of jihād, then do look at those who sit behind and do not participate with a look of disdain.

Perhaps the one who sleeps, breaks his fast and sits behind, is closer to Allāh than you!

And indeed spending the entire night sleeping and waking up with regret (from missing the night prayer) is better than standing (for it) and waking up admiring oneself. For indeed, the actions of the one who admires himself are not accepted."

[Madārij al-Sālikīn, 1/177]
Al-Awzā’ī رحمه الله said:

"Whoever prolongs his nightly prayer, will be granted ease in his standing before Allah on the Day of Judgment."

[Siyar a’lām al-nubalā’,Volume 2 page 120]
Shaykh ‘Abdur-Razzāq al-Badr حفظه الله mentioned that an old man came to him and said:

“O Shaykh I have not memorised anything of Quran except for Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Al-Ikhlaas and I stand in prayer every night for 2 hours…”

then he began to cry and asked:

“O Shaykh is it permissible for me to keep repeating them (the two surahs in every prayer)?'”

Shaykh ‘Abdur-Razzāq al-Badr حفظه الله said,

“Look at this one and his 'Ibaadah and look at the one who has memorized all of the Quran yet he sleeps until the Fajr prayer.”

A man came to Imām Al-Harbī رحمه الله and said to him:

“O Imām! Come with me to the leader and intercede for me that he grants me my needs!”

So Imām Al-Harbī said: “Stand with me and pray 2 units of prayer, and ask Allāh [for your needs].

O my son, verily I will not leave a door which is open and go to a door which is locked!”

[Ad-Dhayl: 2/49]

Ibn Wahb said:

“I decided that every time I speak evil (giybah) about a person, I will fast for one day. Fasting was easy for me.

Then I decided that every time I began to slander, I would give alms of one dirham - it became difficult for me and I gave up slander.”

The one who falls short at the beginning of Ramadan and improves towards its end,

is better than the one who does well at its beginning and falls short at its end.

The Prophet saw said, “Verily, (the rewards of) actions are decided by the final actions.”

Imām Ibn al-Qayyim said: ‏

If the Night of Qadr was some night during the entire year

I’d stand in night prayer the entire year to get it

So what do you suppose should be done for merely ten nights?
