al-Hafiz al-Mizzi (rahimahullah):

If someone who does not know (doesn’t have full knowledge about a matters or matters), (if he) were (to remain) silent (not opining),

(then) he would be at peace and relaxed,

and his errors would decrease and his correctness would increase.

Abu Hurayrah said that the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said,

The most incapable people are the ones who can’t even make dua. And the stingiest people are the ones who can’t even give (or return) salaam.

[as-Saheehah, 601]

Imam Ahmad رحمه الله said:

“If it wasn’t for the covering of Allaah, we would’ve surely been exposed and disgraced!”

Abu Bakr as-Siddiq  رضي الله عنه said:

“Allaah erases the sins of the Muslims in [many] different ways.”

Imām Ṭabarī رحمه الله said:

“Your Lord is the Concealer who covers the sins of His slaves with His mercy if they repent from them.”

Abu Minhal said: “There can’t possibly be a better neighbour for the slave in his grave than abundant istighfaar!”

Sa’id ibn al-Haddad said: “Whoever tries to make people love him through [acts of disobedience], Allaah will make people hate him!”
