The Heavens and the Earth Weep When the Believer Dies

Ibn Jarir recorded that Said bin Jubayr said, “A man came to Ibn Abbās, may Allah be pleased with him, and said to him: “O Abu Al-Abbās, Allāh says,

‎ فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَآءُ وَالاٌّرْضُ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُنظَرِينَ

"And the heavens and the earth wept not for them, nor were they given respite."
(Qur’ān 44:29)

— do the heavens and the earth weep for anybody?”

He رضي الله عنه said,
“Yes, there is no one who does not have a gate in the heavens through which his provision comes down and his good deeds ascend. When the believer dies, that gate is closed; it misses him and weeps for him, and the place of prayer on earth where he used to pray and remember Allāh also weeps for him.”

But the people of Firawn left no trace of righteousness on the earth and they had no good deeds that ascended to Allāh, so the heavens and the earth did not weep for them

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen رحمه الله said,

“Know that possessing money, owning a fancy house, and having many children may not necessarily make you happy; however, being contented with whatever you have will make you happy, even if you are the poorest person.”

💎 Fasting on Āshūrā’ Even While Traveling

Muhammad ibn Shihab al-Zuhri was traveling and he still fasted on the day of Āshūrā’.

So it was said to him: You fast on the day of Āshūrā’ while traveling and you break your fast in Ramadhān?

So he replied: Ramadhān can be made up on other days. However, Āshūrā’ will be missed. (He will not be able to make it up.)

Choose your company wisely.

❝Sit only in the company of one who advises you to desire little from this world and who encourages you to put your hopes in the Hereafter. Take care not to sit with worldly people who speak constantly about worldly affairs; such people will ruin your religious well-being and will corrupt your heart.❞
