Following their meeting, the leaders headed off to an informal dinner hosted for heads of delegations representing member states of the CIS
🇷🇺🇮🇶 Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Muhammed Shia al-Sudani, Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq which currently holds the presidency of the Arab League Council

🔹The discussion pertained to the first Russian-Arab Summit, which was to be held in Moscow on October 15. Due to the fact that the active phase of implementation of US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan has begun, Vladimir Putin and Muhammed Shia al-Sudani agreed that many Arab state leaders that had been invited to attend the summit would find it difficult in the circumstances to go to Moscow in person. It was therefore deemed appropriate to postpone the aforementioned Russian–Arab Summit to a later date to be further agreed upon.

🔹The Russian and Iraqi sides will inform the capitals of all Arab states about this via diplomatic channels.

Vladimir Putin addressed the restricted format meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council

Over more than three decades, the Commonwealth of Independent States has established itself as an influential regional integration-focused association. <...> Our countries are building a stable financial infrastructure that is free from outside influence. Nearly all mutual settlements are now denominated in national currencies. In the first six months of 2025, their share in commercial transactions among CIS member states represented 96 percent. This does not imply we are rejecting other payment instruments or currencies: it simply strengthens our independence and sovereignty. In today’s world, this is an obvious necessity. It enables us to expand trade, promote reciprocal investments, and develop our own capital market regardless of the international situation.
