Vladimir Putin addressed the restricted format meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council

Over more than three decades, the Commonwealth of Independent States has established itself as an influential regional integration-focused association. <...> Our countries are building a stable financial infrastructure that is free from outside influence. Nearly all mutual settlements are now denominated in national currencies. In the first six months of 2025, their share in commercial transactions among CIS member states represented 96 percent. This does not imply we are rejecting other payment instruments or currencies: it simply strengthens our independence and sovereignty. In today’s world, this is an obvious necessity. It enables us to expand trade, promote reciprocal investments, and develop our own capital market regardless of the international situation.

The President of Russia offered comments on Donald Trump being passed over for the Nobel Peace Prize

I do not know whether the current US President is worthy of the prize, but he really is doing a lot to resolve the complicated issues of today that have persisted for year and for decades, the difficult crises that exist. And it is the case with the crisis in Ukraine: he is genuinely striving to find a resolution. <...> The situation in the Middle East is one striking example. If the current initiative is brought to its completion, if everything that Donald was striving to do will be made real, it will be a truly historic achievement.
