Trump walking out to 50 Cent is peak boomer kitsch.

There is this contradiction about the assassination attempt which is that on the one hand, the GOP recognizes the marketability of that moment and what it represents, which is why they are beating it to death.

On the other hand, they are intentionally downplaying or altogether omitting what makes it significant, which is the unspoken idea that the system conspired to kill him because he is an unstoppable, disruptive force.

And so instead of Trump going out there and leaning into this idea that they tried to kill him because he is going to bring down the system, you get the same GOP stump speech with these kitschy references sprinkled in like playing 50 cent or saying he “took a bullet” for democracy.

As somebody who felt emotional about the attempt because of its deep significance, I now feel stupid for having cared. If it wasn’t a stunt, it certainly feels like one now the way they are shamelessly milking it.

This line about Trump “taking a bullet for democracy” is so fucking stupid and ridiculous, I’m sure one of those idiot advisors came up with that. And people who never “got it” like these Vance shills/BAP Jews jack off about how brilliant it is.

Fuck democracy. This is about America and the people, not “democracy.” This betrays the irrepressible GOP reflex to make everything a smarmy turn of phrase to own the left. This is the “Dems are the real racists” of being shot in the face.

“Erm the Democrats say I’m against democracy but like I took a bullet for democracy!!”

Oh really? That’s pretty gay.

My point is that it matters less THAT he got shot than WHY he got shot. This is something that the Trump advisors don’t care about.

They are turning it into a victim narrative in which he just happened to get shot because the media is mean to him and calls him a fascist, which is why they declined to blame the Left or the deep state or even to make a fuss about Secret Service or any of it.

It’s almost like they just want the image of him getting shot because being a victim is sympathetic in itself, and they want to decouple it from any SCARY or DIVISIVE rhetoric about how this is a civil war or that Trump is a revolutionary figure.

Only the GOP could make that moment cringe.

“Wokeness” was preceded by “Political Correctness” in handling topics like blackface, the n-word, Muslims after 9/11, Barack Obama, Trayvon Martin.

In many ways it feels like Wokeness/PC was more of a process than a phenomenon. The identity and values of the old America, which were European and Christian, lowered from their position of prominence.

Hence, both parties are now racially diverse, religiously indifferentist, and socially liberal.

Was “Woke” defeated? Or did everybody just become liberal?

The intensity/contours of wokeness also track with the Obama and Trump eras. The high water mark of Wokeism occurred when “Political Correctness” was confronted by Trumpism, and then receded shortly after January 6th.

At the same time there was a confrontation between the fringes— the emboldened “White Right” or Alt Right against Antifa and journalists. Both seemed to have disappeared in the last 5 years.

Literally all of my haters are just butthurt/jilted fans who couldn’t take the banter.

They pretend like there is some political reason they don’t support America First but it doesn’t take much to get them to admit it’s something absolutely ridiculous like this.

Grooooooooow uuuuuuuuup. I have made peace with many people who have said far worse, it’s just words.
